The most shocking thing to me about this whole Kovalchuck situation is that the normally intelligent Lou Lamarello made what looks to be a really horrible personnel move. How often can you say that about him.

I agree and said teh same when they picked him up. He does not fit the Devils usual defense first me later pattern. Kovy has never been known for his outstanding forechecking.

Well in his defense, how many people are there in Russia that are able to teach him how? :D

You can't put any blame on Lou for this really. He did what almost every Devil fan wanted. You don't get many opportunities to sign someone of his status so he grabbed it. Lou had a great offseason, not his fault they're miserably failing.

My guess is that ownership was pulling the strings on that move. Lou made a couple of comments during the saga that sounded less than enthusiastic about the deal. And somewhere a severely underpaid and only slightly less talented Zach Parise might be getting some guilty pleasure out of this. The good news for the Devils is that if you're going to have a bad year you want to have a really bad year. 30th place is better than 9th place come season's end.

As easy as it is to jump on kovy for the devils problems because of his salary or underperforming the devils problems are not entirely his fault.anyone who's seen a devils game this season knows the whole team has been completely out of sync .you can see it in their passing and positioning something awful.as far as the shortcut attempt the thing that bothered me the most is what boss said players all make mistakes but the lack of emotion afterward was really concerning.truth be told I'm much more of a parise fan he's been sorely missed while playing hurt and being out following his surgery .definitely going to be missed in shoot outs as well he's been the best on the team since they started shoot outs.

I'd fire Lou, break up the team and change to a more energetic system that doesn't really so heavily on defensemen who are not as good as the ones they had years ago, and a goalie who while still very good doesn't seem to be able to carry the team like he once did.

If John Maclean isn't on the hot seat I don't know who is. Lemaire got a lot more out of these guys.

Not sure what it means but kovys response to most questions as of late is "the sun is up"
