Those fans with great expectations that their team will sign every high profile free agent, then the giant let down that comes when the free agents sign with another team...and then comes the slamming of the GM and everyone associated with the team.

Hahah. I remember some people had ridiculous expectations. Like, "We should be able to get Ngata, Rice, and Makins, then we shoudl (the mis spelling was all part of it) be set!!!! If we can't get Rice maybe V Jax!?!??!?"

That makes more sense... Those forums were a joke

Hey , watch it now....I was a mod on the ESPN Ravens board....They were cool boards, you could get into some good fights on there or just tune into one and laugh at the creative responses....All without being mothered by some power trip mod like on the scout board or extreme ravens where some demented black chick just makes up the rules as she goes and changes them like a revolving door.......ESPN forums was the king of the mountain until they decided to go FB on us.....I miss those good ole days....

The ESPN board had Mods? They must have been on vacation for the 2 months I was on there. It was nothing but a free-for-all troll factory.

When I was a kid in school and 2 kids got into a fight, the gym teacher would take them to the gym and put boxing gloves on them and let them fight it out....Today he would lose his job for such an act, but that's why there's so many wimps in this generation.....The ESPN boards would let them have a little fun and fight it out, within reason though....Certain words, pics and threats were not within the boundaries of the rules, and would be deleted and the poster given a warning.....But bans were usually a 24 hr one unless that poster was continually out of hand and would not keep it between the lines......It is way more fun, when you let them go at it though...IMO

I know that posters got banned. They just popped up with a new account and started all over again. On NFL.com we had the same thing. Both went to FB to wash their hands of this. I heard that the ESPN boards where good a while back.

Yes the ESPN boards provided some comedy value to an extent. Some of my favorite memories of those forums were BURGHSOUTH/Bsanko (PIT fans) vs. Ravens fans in general. It was a constant back & forth hate-fest. I even had a few with the delivery boy Cravn.

But for those posters looking to have meaningful discussions, it was a terrible place to be. Especially when we had to sift through pages and pages of trollshit just to find the original conversation. And almost 99% of the time it was hard to figure out if that person was even being serious. Those forums were a circus!

They were. and they did get a little messed up towards the end...They went to an automated mod system that did not work well....You could get deleted for any complaint whatsoever, even if it didn't violate any rules at all, and there was no one to fix it unless you knew some people at espn....
But it was great while it lasted....

LOL, yea, Cravn is a Pittsburgh hater to the core....But he argued with the Ravens fans too, me and him went at many times over the years, but were friends....But me and rastaman had the emmy winners on there in the later yrs, and me and cravn in the early yrs, had the Bengals fans in a total panic, Mr Orange, Bengalrugby and even the mods were trying to get us banned, but unsuccessfully.....Great laughs...:laugh3:

There was only 1 Bengal fan in particular that irritated the hell out of me.. His name was SoCal or something like that. I remember he had a picture of a dog as his avi. But that guy was one hell of a cinci homer. Pro-Dalton to boot... Potent mixture if you ask me.

I get a chuckle out of people bad mouthing ESPN IMO they are still the best agency for sports related news and shows. There one shortcoming IMO is that they seem to hate hockey.

You are one of the few... For NFL coverage its NFLN > ESPN in a landslide.

Good ole BURGHY. He was such a tool, but was also a lot of fun.

He was a lot of fun, along with Finfan, who was a hybrid Pitts fan too, but rastaman topped them all with his Troy Smith is elite stance, along with many other ridiculous statements.....Remember the bring in Matt Hasselback and cut Joe idea ????....rotfl......I liked the banter though, but most boards now will ban you for the slightest insult....Pansies !!! lol

Well that is your opinion I have watched NFLN and the production is so sub par I find it hard to watch. Personally I think when covering football ESPN is much easier and informative. If that makes me one of the few I am okay with that.
