Why is Jarome Iginla, a forward for the Los Angeles Kings and a former Boston Bruin, buying a home in the Boston area?

The 39-year-old future of Hall of Famer has apparently paid $4.5 million for a newly-constructed home in Brookline's Chestnut Hill neighborhood, according to a Norfolk County deed.

If he is hanging them up, there are a lot of worse former players you can have in your organization teaching the kids.

Kudos to Boston if they've locked him in.

$4.5 mil is a lot to drop on a huge house to play somewhere for a year. I wonder if he's planning on retiring there.

It'd be great to see Iginla play another year, but I would think Boston would be looking to get younger at this point.

I looked a little deeper and Stanley Cup of Chowder (great blog name) is saying this house construction was started back in 2014. Maybe he just built it, got moved and it was too far along to turn back, and he'll just sell it or rent it to some college kids.
