.....the Lions make the playoffs, but lose in their first matchup, will you consider the season a success?

What if they get a bye in the opening round? Does that change your opinion?

My take is this: I will consider it a success, but I will be disappointed with a one-and-done. Unfortunately, this franchise hasn't had much success lately and we have to start somewhere. I think a playoff appearance is a step in the right direction. Long way to go though, we've been down this road before.

If they could win the division, for the first time ever Ill be inclined to think the season was a success.

I certainly won't be happy about it, but part of it depends on the loss and to whom. If we wild card at 10 or 11 wins and get shit stomped by a bad division winner that backs into the playoffs at 8-8 I'll be pissed.

I've been predicting a Superbowl loss from Day 1. It sucks, because this may be the best chance we have in a while, honestly. Suh will most likely be gone and even if we resign Fairley I forsee a Haynesworth 2.0. Who knows if Stafford will ever be elite. We have alot of money tied up with CJ, Tate, Bush, Bell, and Stafford. Then our draft pick will probably be mid-20's or worse. Damn. To me, it almost feels like we will be in rebuild mode unless the offense becomes elite. So yea, I want at least a Championship game appearance, minimum.

The problem I have with a one and done is there is likely going to be some big contributors leaving over the next couple of off seasons. If we aren't good enough to win one with the talent that's on the roster now, what does the future hold with potentially lesser talent?

For a team that doesn't have many playoff appearances, I suppose getting there would be a successful season. Is that enough though?

When.....

The Lions win a playoff game I will consider their season successful. Bye but one-and-done will be failure for me.

To be honest, the goal needs to be to win a SB. This is a team good enough to win on Any Given Sunday.

Playoffs would be something to build on, but SB is the only real success. I wouldn't be mad at a playoff birth though.

I got us losing in the NFC championship game. That defense has no reason whatsoever to not get us at least 1 playoff victory. If the offense pulls its head out of its ass, we should go way further.

Long way to go on offense before I would consider winning a playoff game, but we can only hope they get there act together and Stafford lives long enough to finish the season.

Progress is all I am looking for. Love the direction of the defense. Not sure if we are deep enough to hold up all year, but so far so good. I am not even sure what the offense is trying to do other than not turn it over.

I think thats what we will see this season a one and done, I would consider it a success. The only way I will change my tune is if they start putting a productive, consistent offense on the field. That oline wont be winning them any playoff games if they continue their putrid play. Will also change once the lions have a healthy CJ, might not need the oline as much.

I agree with the suh and fairley comments. Im hoping fairley doesnt go the haynesworth route but I also see a rebuild if suh leaves.

Atm there are too many teams that are still better than detroit and up to this point detroit has only beaten one team with a winning record although I believe the saints will be in the playoff mix at the end of the season. The lions have four difficult games left imo. Three that I dont see them winning unless their offense figures it out, at zona, at new england, at GB. They also have two games against the bears that should be considered tough matchups. If they take care of business at home they will be playoff bound, the bears, dolphins, falcons, bucs, and vikings are all very winnable games. If their offense clicks they will be elite.
