Everything Sharks-related on twitter is quiet... no new blog posts... team isn't practicing except for the injured people and scratches.

Sounds like they've just about packed it in and are spending time on improving their golf game instead.

Wise choice.

2 big home games with Boston and Phoenix commin up. It would be huge if they could pull those off. Good luck the rest of the way.

If you look at how they've been playing, for quite a while now, it won't be a shocker if they don't make it.
It's pretty hard to be positive at all, but here is the only thing I can think of on that front.....2 years ago, Philly made the playoffs by winning in a shootout on the last day of the season, then they went on to the Finals.
If you get in, anything can happen.....

9 games in 15 nights and we can't believe that they aren't practicing? Really? Maybe we should make them practice, then run a bag skate before every game and once they have been completely exhausted and lose out the rest of the season you can all shout in triumph how right you were that the Sharks suck.

Then you can trade off all the good players and decimate the front office and again triumphantly delacre that you knew this franchise wasn't worthy of your ardent fandom in the first place.

I mean a good team can't possibly just have a down year.

Good call Slim. They really haven't had much time to rest, maybe the day off will do them good. Give them a break physically, and mentally too.
What the fuck, it can't hurt......because not much else has gone right lately.....

Ummm, no.

Nobody's calling for bag skates or anything that will kill them.

But I don't buy the "practicing by watching video is best for us these days" excuse.

If the team was doing well, yes, awesome excuse.

But they're playing like absolute shit. Surely some time on the ice together will do you some good. A lot more than the fucking video watching.

Also, a down year is fine but down to the level of not making the playoffs when more than half the league makes the playoffs is fucking embarrassing. Moreso with the roster you've got.

You honestly believe it's worth bitching about a team not practicing on the off day in a 3 games in 4 night stretch that included travel, allbeit very short travel?

Not for one day. I definitely wouldn't bitch if it was just that.

They have taken almost EVERY day off from practice since returning from the long road trip. Look it up. I'm too lazy to.

No need. I think I get the picture here.

I looked it up... it's not *every* day but it's a lot of (non-game) days that should have been used to practice the numerous items on the list of things they suck at.

They are also in a 9 games in 15 night stretch. More practice isn't always better, this just seems like an excuse to bitch.

I had a coach that once told me:

"Practice doesn't equal perfect, perfect practice equals perfect."

If you practice doing something wrong you are going to do it wrong in a game. If you just go through the motions in practice and aren't focused beacuse you are exhausted, you won't get any benefit from it in a game.

Plus it seemed to work, they played really well last night. They skated harder, played faster and didn't look worn down. I'd say it was the right decision, or at the very least not a reason to complain about the teams effort level.

Good quote Slim. Another that comes to mind here:

"Never mistake activity for achievement. " - John Wooden
