Im getting excited when I think about our offense having a defense to get them the ball, and stop teams from notching 7 every possession. I thought I was stoked last year when we added Perry opposite Mathews. The rookieitis and injury sent him home early. But this year he should come in and hit the ground running. We added a beefy DE in Daniels, who I thought did very well for a rookie. He has company from this years draft class. 1st round pass rushing specialist Datone Jones Moves like a OLB at 6'4 285! QBs are going to be CRUSHED!!! And 4th round beefy DE ,who played DE in college, weighing in at 6'3" 310... Between Mathews, Neal, Raji, Datone, Perry. We are going to collapse the pocket. We are going to get to the QB. We are going to force the QBs to make bad throws to our ball hawking secondary. With enough beef to stop the run as it comes... All things we did NOT have last year.

All dependant on staying healthy. We lose a Raji or a Mathews, and all of a sudden theres another weakness Capers has to compensate for schematicly. But if we can stay healthy, and fire on all cylinders. Our joke defense could become a top tier defense.

I mean IMAGINE our ball hawking secondary with a pass rush from the front 7.....

So far. so good......mind you, I am excited to see what this D is capable of, but I have that nagging Caperitis that creeps up periodically. Yes, I know we had injury issues, and some guys stepped in and performed admirably. But I also felt that some of the basics got lost in the shuffle i.e. tackling, blocking assignments. Part of that was due somewhat to injuries and part of that was coaching. If we do stay healthy, but do not improve on defense, I think we can all agree on what the problem is.....but for now I will be optimistic and say I hope we have a top ten defense. And with that said, if our defense performs well and having Rodgers at the helm of the offense, the Packers will be a formidable team that will be hard to stop.

The defense was ranked higher than the offense last year. With a more consistent rush (wouldn't it be nice if Datone, Perry and Neal were able to throw down along with Clay?) we should be fine. I worry a bit about us moving the ball through the air, strangely, though if we really can establish a legit run game that will help the offense and defense. I feel pretty good, barring major injuries, about this season.

I admit, I have homer optimism when it comes to the D. They could be the best in the division next year, and give SF a run for their money in the stat game. Just want to see Clay get more opportunities.

Good morning Packer fans and Packer friends and I agree with all of you gentlemen. I think if we can stay healthy and blend the rookies in like Datone Jones I am so excited about we are going to have a good defense to go along with our great offense. I am so pumped and ready to get our Packers back in training camp and get them ready for the upcoming season. I read what another wise Packer fan that was also a great member of the ESPN wise men that said our medical staff and conditioning coaches are something to be desired. I read somewhere that MM said that is his goal this season to keep our players healthy and off the ij list this year if at all possible. If the medical staff and the conditioning coaches were part of our problem last season I do hope they made the needed changes in those departments so we don't have the same issues. SMILE GO PACK GO

I don't see our secondary are "ball-hawking." Maybe when we play Cutler. Our front-7 will need to stay healthy and create pressure immediately because we all know how poorly our secondary played down the stretch last year. I believe our secondary will be a key need going into next year's draft; especially if we still have problems at Safety.

We'll see. The rookie was starting to show that nose for the ball.

Pass rush is key. In 09 and 10 we had pass rush and turnovers came in bunches. The last two years little pass rush and turnovers down. A good pass rush will make any DB look like an all pro. Look at the Giants. Not the most talented secondary IMO but with the rush they had over the last few years it made them world beaters able to shut down the highest of high octane offenses like Green Bay and New England.

Not sold on Minnesota yet. Ponder is still the QB. Can Peterson duplicate what he did last year? History says no. Jennings has to show he can be "the guy". He has always had alot of talent around him. Chicago should be alot better but I don't see you guys jumping out in week one and lighting it up. Could take some time to start clicking. Detroit I could go either way on.

Both posts are dead on in my book, Lofton. I do think our young DBs do have some ball hawk in them, but not like Collins and Woodson, so that pass rush has to improve a hell of a lot.

ANd Christian Ponder will be one of our best players. :D

Our first meeting is week 9. By then I hope we have found a groove. Really is gonna come down to our Oline gelling. We have the weapons at the skill positions for a huge offense, if we can pass block. And even if MN is not huge on offense that still leaves 3 of 4 N teams with a dangerous offense potentially speaking.

Yea like I said I think you guys will be better. You have to be better, because you can't get any worse right? This might be the year the Bears get a W against the Pack too. It is inevitable....

Cryogen... Im not gonna bet my nuts on it. and don't care enough now to look it up. But didn't we lead the league in ints the year Rodgers won MVP? People attributed it to capers scheme, since we had literally no d-line, and teams were airing it out anyways. We would play thick zone.... But what I seen was a young, depleted secondary, that made so many plays they ended up leading ther league... that's clutch and against the odds. QBs had all-day-long!

Everyone got promoted since then. we lost another hall of fame calliber leader. But we added a Hayward. And now Micah Hyde seems to be a possible immediate contributor. House is dominant when healthy. Bush slowly and quietly becoming a decent defender (who can actually tackle)...Burnett always gets his...
