Have the Cubs EVER signed a successful FA? Fuckdome was a disaster. Ramirez was a disaster (was he a trade or a FA??). Lee was OK, but still a mid-level signing.

It would be interesting to see what happens if Poo-holes goes there...

Did they sign Sammy Sosa or trade for him? How about Moises Alou?

Both played good to great for them for most of their time there.

Alou did sign as a FA, but really only had 1 good year for them.

2002 - .275, .337, .419, 15 HR, 61 RBI
2003 - .280, .357, .462, 22 HR, 91 RBI
2004 - .293, .361, .557, 39 HR, 106 RBI

2004 was a good year, but far from GREAT, given the era it took place in. It was also his walk year that the Giants ended up paying him for, not the Cubs.

Sosa was traded from the WSox to the Cubbies in the Jorge Bell trade.
