If Julio hadn't extended, what would he be worth after the 2027 season?

Rough season last year. The first four months, by Julio standards, were clearly subpar. Only a hot streak in the last six weeks allowed him to salvage the season with somewhat decent stats. So let's forget the first four months and focus on the last six weeks, and assume that is our guy going forward:
Figuring he continues to improve in the three seasons through the ages 24-26, he could reasonably compile the following stats over those three years prior to free agency:
Runs 315
HR 105
RBI 315
BA .285
SB 90
Add to that, three All Star selections, and possibly one, two, oor three Gold Gloves and Silver Sluggers.

So, the question has been throwing about as to who could be MLB's first $1 billion guy. Could Julio have been that guy?

Yeah I understand what you are.
Saying..
That only the pitchers..

Gilbert.
Kerby..
Miller.
Woo..
Are of the most worth.
With.
Raleigh..and Julio..

That is.most of the worth of the mariners.

Cuz .everyone said.the.re-build was.
Over..
When it was.not..it was only.1/2..
And know..expectations..are..
Off the charts..

With..no..offence in sight...
And with most teams keeping there stuff...
Mariners seem.lost..and destined.
To defeat .for at least..one more.year.

Do I suggest tradeing
Gilbert.
Kerby.
Miller.
Woo..
No I do.not..cuz those.teams think.
Them.worthless anyway..

It's to late to trade any but Castillo.
Cuz mariners have.to.
Have some guys left for themselves.

So whatever..

Definitely around $600 million depending on the years. Since he signed a very team friendly deal I doubt his agent would try to push his number to Soto’s.

I would have paid him 10 years/$100M but I know that wasn't the question.
Something serious happened within the organization at that time which we don’t know about. Jerry isn’t an idiot and if he thought he was going to have to penny pinch I can’t imagine he would’ve done Julio or Castillo.

That is a good point though I still think Jerry knew more than he led on. We will never know I guess.

Well I know he defended ownership by saying they did just spend half a billion dollars on Julio and Castillo, but it’s like he and ownership realize that half a billion isn’t use for this year right?

Ya it is all BS. It is like the Cano deal. See we aren't cheap we spent $240M. But it still leaves them in mid-tier in payroll. Nothing changed. It just looks better to the fans.

I still don’t get how $180 million dollar payroll didn’t bankrupt this ownership group then but have a better team now and got forbid they go anywhere near $180 million dollar payroll

Exactly plus $180M then is about 3% less per year since it happened due to inflation. Roughly $5.5M per year since it happened. Makes zero sense.
