He should. 9 1,000 yard seasons and some that were close. Used to hate when Seattle played against him in his prime. He always seemed to slice and dice us.

Either way, more 1,000 yard seasons than the Bus and 0.5 yards more average not to mention 2,000 yards more receiving and didn't nearly fumble away a conference title.

If Gore isn't 1st ballot it just shows that the Bus was a complete scam and got in because of the team he played for. Both retired at 33 so can't say longevity was a factor. And Bus was NOT a factor in that Super Bowl win. It was the D, Seattle's shit play, and Parker.
Bettis more more media hype IMO.

Well yah, that's my whole point. Look at the teams... Steelers have probably the largest fanbase (outside of Dallas) in the NFL. "Steeler Nation". There's no "San Fran Nation" for example. And Indianapolis is only known for Manning and Luck.

Point being, Bettis should NOT have gotten in just because he played for the Steelers. If Gore DOESN'T get in first ballot than Bettis got in JUST BECAUSE HE PLAYED FOR THE STEELERS. Which is bullshit.

He is 8th all time in rushing and is a pros pro. He is never in the media for anything negative. He has a better career than AD. He would get my vote. But I am curious on what other people think of him.
So so on him. Didnt lead much in anything. Was never considered the best of his time. Probably the best rb miami ever produced.

I think a better comparison to Gore would be Curtis Martin instead of Bettis. Martin was a consistent back with a season or two where he really distinguished himself, and had the fortune of staying healthy.

I believe he is a very good one, but won't get in the hall. Unfortunately for him there are 2 things working against him. He played on a whole lot of bad teams early in his career so he didn't get much fanfare and when the finally did get good they fell short in the big one. By not being a 1st round pick with lots of early fanfare he did his work without fans talking him up. It's kind of like a college team not being in the preseason rankings and taking them 9 weeks to get into the top 10. It's probably not fair, but what in life is?

Spot #2 was spot on, but I also think he'll get in, but not 1st ballot.

Bettis had 3 great seasons, and a collection of 1k yd season... All the guys at 13k+ are in, I don't think they will keep Gore out.

never led the league in a thing. not...a...thing.

13,000 rushing yards, plus another 3400 receiving and 96 total TD's

to me, 100 TD's has been like 3,000 hits in baseball. automatic.

hes an interesting case...hall of steady?

Hal of very good is the best he can hope for.
Great player though and any team would have been happy to have had him play for them.
Just didn't dazzle

He's definitely a HOFer, but not a first ballot guy. I've posted this before, but it fits here.

8th in rushing yards all time. He and E.James are the only RBs in the top 15 not already in the HOF.
10th in total yards from scrimmage. All 9 above him are in the HOF.
Over a 12 year career, he has averaged 4.4 yards per rushing attempt.
Entering his 13th season, he is still the unquestioned starter at RB.

Jerome Bettis is in the HOF, and here is how Gore compares to him:
--Career Rushing—season average
J.Bettis: Out of 13yrs (2 teams), 267.6 attempts, 1,050yds rushing, 3.9ypa, 7.0 rushing TDs/season
F. Gore: Out of 12yrs (2 teams), 247.1 attempts, 1,089yds rushing, 4.4ypa, 6.2 rushing TDs/season

--Career Receiving—season averages
J.Bettis: 15 catches, 111.5yds receiving, 7.2yds per catch, 0.23 TDs
F. Gore: 34 catches, 288.3yds receiving, 8.4yds per catch, 1.1 TD

--Playoff Averages, per game--
J.Bettis: 6yrs, 14 games, 7 games started, 48.1yds rushing, 3.4ypa, 0.64 TDs per game
F. Gore: 3yrs, 8 games, 8 games started, 80.8yds rushing, 4.6ypa, 0.63 TDs per game

--Average of the best 4 seasons—
J.Bettis: 338 carries, 1,466yds, 4.4ypa, 8.25rush TDs, 24 catches, 192yds, 7.9ypc, 0.75 receiving TD
F. Gore: 270 carries, 1,310yds, 4.8ypa, 8.5rush TDs, 53 catches, 445yds, 8.5ypc, 1.75 receiving TD

--Average of the worst 4 seasons--
J.Bettis: 182 carries, 621yds, 3.4ypa, 7rush TDs, 11 catches, 72yds, 7.7ypc, 0 receiving TD
F. Gore: 207 carries, 863yds, 4.2ypa, 4rush TDs, 33 catches, 348yds, 8.9ypc, 1 receiving TD

--Other Stats of Note--
J.Bettis:
--Of 13 total seasons, EIGHT 1,000yd seasons, ZERO 1,000yd seasons after his 9th yr
--Averaged 4ypa or better only 4 times in 13 seasons
--1 Super Bowl Win, 14 carries, 43 yards, 3.1ypa, 0 TD
Frank Gore:
-- Of 12 total seasons, NINE 1,000yd seasons, TWO (so far) 1,000yrd season after his 9th yr
--Averaged 4ypa or better 10 times in 10 seasons, then 3.7 and 3.9 the last 2
--1 Super Bowl Loss, 19 carries, 110yds, 5.8ypa, 1 TD

If J.Bettis is a HOF RB, then Gore is EASILY a HOF RB.

With 620 more rushing yards, Gore will be 5th on the all time rushing list.

With 1,037 more rushing yards, Gore will be 4th. So, yes. Definite HOF player.
