wouldn't Mixon be the pick at #17? Many posters on here believe in the Redskins dont have a winning season this year that Allen will be fired. So If you are Allen you have the take the best player at #17 that can win you games. Mixon is that player who can win games. Huge red flags off field but what would Allen care if Allen job is on the line this year.

Allen wont be fired unless this team goes 5-11 or worse. Should he be fired, and will he be fired are two different things. If the team goes 8-8 and Kirk is not signed long term, odds are he will have some wiggle room and the ax will fall on Munusky or Gruden. BUt reality is, if we go 8-8 no one gets fired, and we have another off season of should we sign Kirk long term, or have him play on the tag again.

NO suspension is coming down from the NFL b/c of that incident. He has the most talent in this draft at RB. Even more than Fournette b/c he is a complete back. So if you want a RB at 17 you would have to want Mixon even with his past.

In answer to the OP, I don't think picking Mixon at 17 would help Allen's chances of job security. Picking a RB rather than a defensive player would make him lose any benefit of the doubt - if the defense sucks again - especially if there's a defender or 3 that they pass up who has a huge rookie year.

A rookie Rb has a bigger impact than a rookie defender we would take at 17. A pick like that can save a gm's job if that rookie Rb is responsible in taking the team to the playoffs or has a huge stat year.

McDowell, Brantley, Peppers has alot of buzz around the redskins name. Zach Cunningham

Lets be honest, anything on the D-line, ILB, OLB or Safety will be applauded at 17. And lets not forget TJ Watt is likely to be there as well. Sexy pick with blood lines, and people will quote the tried and true

LMFAO. So McDowell, Brantley, Peppers will have more of an impat on the team than Mixon? First off all McDowell and Brantley would be lucky if they are taken in the first round. Peppers is the SAME player as Sweringer and Cravens and is projected to be a late first early 2nd. Watt is not a big time pass rusher. So those examples are just hilarious.

If I am GM I am not drafting Mixon before the 4th, if I am wrong then I have to live with it. If he throws another left hook the team has to live with it.

I watched Cook a bit and he seems pretty good. Fournette supposedly lost 12 lbs and killed it in pro day. I am not against a RB at this point but I would want picks 2 and 3 to be defense if they went RB. Unless of course you think Cousins is good and then I want Peterman. That does not sound right.

Obviously, if the Skins make the playoffs, Allen's got job security. My point was if they don't make the playoffs because the defense still stinks - which has a very good chance of happening - he loses the benefit of the doubt, because he didn't do enough to improve the biggest problem on the team - the DEFENSE. And because he didn't pick a defender in the 1st round, that's one less outstanding defensive player for the future.

My thing on McCaffery is, IM not a huge fan of taking a guy in the first round that six months ago was considered a 3rd rounder. I agree that there is a bit of stigma with white boys at RB, but fuck this kid could be white shady for all I know. I have seen Cook alot, I have seen Mixon and Fournette a couple of times. Any one of the four looks like they would be an upgrade over what we got.
