Yes but he will play slot when he comes back and that is perfect for us. Sure hand guy running around trying to pick up 1st downs.

I don't think he will. We need an edge player desperately. Boldin is great out of the slot, and both Williams and Patton are probably better-suited in the slot as well.

Why cut Osgood? He is a ST player.. I would rather the Niners cut Marecic for a roster spot... I don't see Crabtree playing ST when he is available...

Yeah, Osgood isn't a WR. He's a STs player and occasional blocker.

Jon Baldwin - WR - 49ers

Jon Baldwin had two catches for 19 yards in Thursday night's Week 4 win over the Rams.

It was the first game he's been active for this season. Baldwin played ahead of Kyle Williams in some two-wide sets and was able to secure both of his targets in the passing game. With Quinton Patton (foot) sidelined, he could potentially overtake Williams for the No. 2 receiver job.

Being at the game Baldwin looked like a legit WR (size wise), and he got open a couple times other then his 2 catches. His 2nd one it looked like the defender was all over his back and he still caught the ball. I think he can be good. Excited to see more of him

I ALMOST bought tickets since I live an hour and a half from St. Louis. There 9ers side 4th row 50 yard line tickets for $99 on stubhub. But I didn't wanna get stuck next to some annoying Rams fans.

I think all of Boldin, Crabtree, Manningham, Williams, Patton, and Baldwin need to be the roster, IMO, when Crabs and MM return.

I don't recall Manningham playing from the slot all that much. I recall him primarily lining up outside with Crabtree and Williams manning the slot.

I can't find great numbers, but according to ESPN, he had 26 receptions on either sideline, 15 on the left and right "side," and only one reception in the middle last year. That doesn't seem like slot receiver numbers. By comparison, Welker had 26 in the middle, 54 on the sides, and 38 on the sidelines. Crabtree had 14 in the middle, 29 on the sides, and 41 on the sidelines.

According to PFF, he ran 45 routes last year from the slot (slot percentage of 18.1%) and was targeted 13 times. He had 12 catches for 129 yards and 0 TDs from the slot.

That sounds about right.
