OU fans, you need to understand

You lose this game, you lose a HUGE part of your recruiting - fact is, you need this game, which is why you played it over playing Nebraska for years.

This is not a loss for UT in that sense......it's a HUGE loss for OU. You aren't going to magically recruit Texas losing games instate.

That game didn't become a real rivalry until Devaney and 1971. Sorry, anytime you beat a team 16 times straight it can't be a real rivalry. (Don't tell this to Okie St. fans, it'll break their hearts.)

I feel ya... we had that feeling too in the 90s winning 9 out of 10 against OU from 88 season through to 98... :director:

here's a little post from a ut fan at the bevo, as you can see they are starting to catch on about deloss

"Fuck this piece of shit LHN right in its ass. Has this crapfest brought us ANY benefits despite the promise of $300 million paid over 20 years? Virtually every UT fan not in DKR got screwed out of watching the 1st game of the year. You wait an entire offseason and get fucked out of watching the opener. Thanks a lot ESPN and Delo$$.

We are potentially going to lose BOTH of our longtime rivals (spare me the shit about A&M not being our rival, that has ALWAYS been a huge game as it is the battle for Texas). Longstanding rivalries, traditions and pageantry of college football are what makes it special. We are jeopardizing that. Notre Dame, USC and whoever else can NEVER replace the RRS and the A&M game"

You're preaching to the choir here. I've been saying how stupid of an idea the LHN is. Our Texas Exes chapter couldn't watch the game at our meeting place b/c the bar couldn't show the Rice game. We were all PISSED!!!

Regarding Dodds, he is the man behind the biggest money maker in all of college athletics. He ain't going anywhere......

I laughed when they asked Stoops if was going to be in Stillwater Thursday to watch his brother play. Bob said "No, I only go to Stillwater when I have to".

Yeah, difference is, NU needed Dr. Tom's daddy to resign from OU. Had Switzer stayed at OU, NU doesn't dominate the 90's or the Big 8 and that's a fact.....

Deloss is NOT the reason UT is the biggest money maker. Deloss' decisions and dumb ass comments is why this whole thing is falling apart. i dont know the direct qoute but it was something like - "If TAM leaves there's twenty teams i could call that would want to join our conference." WHERE THE FUCK ARE THOSE TEAMS?

How bout the comment that went something like this re independent "we would place the other teams in conferences on sport by sport basis" How fucking desperate and ridiculous is that?

It's time for that old man to be put to pasture.

He's done, mark my word, your alums are going to retire his ass, maybe before all this gets settled.

If OU is scared to play Texas, Texas should just go to the SEC with Baylor and Tech.

Wrong as usual. He said there is a list of 20 teams they would consider inviting to the conference. Leave it to a Sooner to completely miss and misrepresent facts here.

He's said REPEATEDLY that Texas will never go independent while he is AD. ANOTHER false statement by you.

Here's an idea. LOOK UP what he's said instead of making things up.

LMAO at daddy reference... spoken like a true wounded dog who's been found out and swatted across the nose for being bad...

although he did go 12–5 mark against T.O and he also went 3-0 against Darrel Royal and 9-5 against Tejas as a whole... in his time...

I'm not talking down to them.

If they don't play Texas, that pipeline of Texas talent they rely on dries up pretty quick. They're going to have trouble recruiting Texas talent with no marquee games in the state.

Without the RRSO, they definitely would have never had Adrian Peterson in the fold.

Not to mention the 5 million they make off the game. You're a fool if you think they'd give all that up. Stoops said what he said to provide cover for UT so they can ditch the conference as well.

lol...

Beebe will just get his new office there then... since he has such high regard for Texas U being the one and only cog in the wheel that makes it (big 12) go round.

OU will recruit where ever they want to spend the time cultivating...

The highschool coaches in the State of Tejas know the recruiters for OU as they know all the recruiters from the institutions that have made yearly trips... Just because OU won't play tejas... does not mean that the recruiting trips will end...

You can make trips all you want. But without major games instate, it's very difficult to convince kids to leave home for you, where their friends and family can see them play.

Just ask Arkansas what happened to their Texas pipeline when they left for the SEC.

So, if Oklahoma leaves, Texas is still willing to play them. If Texas A&M leaves, Texas is not willing to play them. Hypocrisy, much?

Do you really not see a difference in those two games and their relative importance? Seriously?

Starting WR Kenny Stills and RB Roy Finch are from California, Landry Jones is from New Mexico, OU has players from Florida, Louisiana and even New Jersey. OU has an abundance of talent from Texas, but they also recruit nationwide. Stoops has stated on a number of occasions that he would like to play more in California in regards to recruiting. OU will never have a problem getting talent from Texas, there is so much talent and only so many scholorships.

Arkansas thought the exact same thing.......OOPS

To a lot of kids, playing games in their home state is critical. Having no games their family and friends can attend is going to be a deal breaker for a lot of top ranked recruits. WHY do you think the SEC wants to get games in Texas so much???

Wrong again star.

The basis for needing the rrr to recruit dates back nearly 40 years to 120+ player rosters. thats not the case anymore. what was the population of of texas in 1970, what is it now, how bout 11 million vs 26million. Lets see 2/3 the recruits and over two times the population. If you hook bevo to us and go out west you'll be able to recruit as well as OU and TAM. But if you dont your program is going to be tough sale.
