2013 the offense was supposed to carry the defense, since the defense was so young. But when TM went down, that made it rough. Tommy Armstrong got a lot of experience.
2014 the defense was supposed to carry the offense since it was going to be TA's year to grow and Adam Taylor would be the second back behind Ameer to get the XP. Adam Taylor broke his (ankle?, leg?) and missed the season. The linebacker play disappeared and Randy Gregory left for the NFL.
The 2015 schedule is very favorable. The two toughest road games are at Miami Hurricanes and Minnesota Golden Gophers. All the big games are in Lincoln. Wisconsin loses Melvin Gordon. Michigan State is still going to be a handful. No Michigan, no Ohio State, no Penn State.
Pelini is fired and Riley comes into what I predicted would be a good situation. The D line and D backfield are among the best in the B1G and will be tough for BYU Taysom Hill and not sure if Miami has another Duke Johnson and they might have a QB controversy of their own and their coach is on the HOT seat.
But the new coaching change makes it a totally different scenario. Nebraska could be 12-0 or should be at worst 7-5. If 6-6 or worse, heaven help the coaching staff. If Pelini would have stayed I probably would have gone the safe route and predicted a 9-3 season because of how poorly the linebackers are/were playing.
Now, it seems Nebraska is looking for a QB. The ball is going to be flung all over the field. Either the coaches have zero confidence in the run game, or a lot of confidence in the run game(don't need to work on it) and are trying to shore up the passing game. The receivers seem very, very happy. Not much enthusiasm coming from the running backs.
Are the coaches trying to change the O Linemen into pass blockers now, instead of what they were recruited for, run blocking?
Where the fugawi? So many unknowns on what the offense is going to do and the coaching staff for me.
Looking forward to that BYU game for the litmus test. Googling Taysom Hill, the dude is married. His wife's sister is also married to one of the football players. Those Mormons have to get married young so they can have sex.
