What's the sense in being healthy if you cannot be happy?
I want to die happy, I'm just not ready to die yet!

When you say no fried foods, do you mean battered and deep fried? Of anything using a frying pan?
I fry eggs in butter a few times a week.
Everyone wants to go to Heaven but nobody wants to go today!

As with most dairy products removing the fat does almost no good and ends up doing a lot of bad.

Wait, what?

Skim milk vs. whole milk.
Skim milk has all the fat removed. What is left? Sugar. WTF do yo want to drink a glass of lactose for?
With the fat, digestion is slowed and the sugars are slowly converted to energy rather than causing a blood sugar spike/Insulin spike and corresponding storage as fat.

Cream...All fat, no sugar. If you prefer some dairy in your coffee, use cream. Heavy cream, not half and half. It's thicker and richer but no sugar.
In the late 70's a milk started being sold as 99% fat free. Sounded good, but whole milk by standard is 97% fat free.

But 99% fat free looks dynamite on a label.

But what if being healthy makes you happy? We're all different.

Not knowing how to spell it, I did intentionally mis spell it.
Which made me think of all the assholes who fight battles using bullshit. So tired of potentially smart assholes who wasted their brain power on better ways to stay lazy, instead of smarter ways to get real shit done.

Do you know why it's harmful?
"Turmeric supplements have been linked to a number of cases of liver injury, most recently in a United States-based study.
Previous research from Italy and published case studies have linked turmeric supplementation, or supplementation with its active compound curcumin, to liver injury. This latest research shows rates of liver injury linked to turmeric could be increasing.
The latest study, published inThe American Journal of Medicine in 2023, looked at the turmeric-associated liver injury cases recorded in the US by the US Drug-Induced Liver Injury Network (DILIN) between 2004 and 2022."

Here in America, we tend to pick and choose supposedly healthy ingredients.
Example, in Okinawa people eat cabbage almost every day.
In America we now embrace eating brassicas as healthy and helpful in preventing cancer.
Japanese eat a diet high in magnesium from fish and seaweed mostly.
Americans eat only the cabbage.
Problem is, eating a lot of cabbage without the magnesium makes your diet more likely to cause cancer rather than prevent it.
We don't like to eat the whole Japanese diet, nor the whole Mediteranean diet. Even an "Eskimo" diet of just whale blubber will prevent you from getting heart disease!
Embrace the whole diet for better results!

I moved this to a more appropriate thread

My brother has several MD friends in Chatanooga who have been trying to get their patients not to use plastic for years. One of them has spent the past twenty researching the effects of plastic on the human body. He has written and claims that there are millions of pounds of microscopic plastic in the air from burning, microwaving and melting. He says that all generations from the Baby Boomers to infants born next year are and will be affected. Lungs, intestines, liver, kidneys are all affected and we have no direct knowledge of exactly what it's doing other than it's inetrferring with normal absorption and flow of liquids within the body. He laughs and says, we have begun to line our innards with plastic and wonder why desease is so prevalent and difficult to treat.
Any links? I'd like to read more, and sure I can google it, but word of mouth still has value.

Water bottles. Microplastics straight into your digestive system followed by the discarded bottle SLOOOOWLY breaking down in the ocean and the fish you eat being contaminated with microplastics.

I'm 78 years old. I've got diabetes, a pacemaker and a stent in my heart. I still feel pretty good.

I alternate yogurt and fruit for breakfast one day with eggs the next. I get fresh fruit in the summer, frozen in the winter. The frozen fruit bag says "Berry Medley" on it so I always expect to hear Chuck Berry singing Maybelline and Johnny B. Goode when I open the bag. We get meat from the butcher shop, fish from the fish market and vegetables from the stand. The supermarket is for whole milk and canned goods, very little fresh stuff. Our eggs are from a local farmer.

The GF is a few years younger. She's been on goofy diets and none of them work.

I'm 72 and eat whatever I damn well please - but in moderation. I recently had a heart catheter and all my arteries are clear. No blockages anywhere. All that red meat and butter seems not to have had an impact.
I've never smoked and I'm easy on sweets.
I've had a high-risk life and screwed everything that moved.
I'm probably going to live longer than I want.

Life is like playing Russian roulette - just don't put too many bullets in the gun!
