I'm sorry, I just cant see how blaming a coach for a -50(90 goals for and 140 goals against) can be blamed on 1 man. I would like to think first the shitty team had the majority to do with this, and the GM that went out and made 1 player his entire focus for the new season has a lot to do with it. Think about it...90 goals in 45 games. Do you really think thats the coaches fault? Nope.

Probably not entirely, but MacLean may have at least been part of the problem...

In the 12 games since Lemaire has returned:

Kovalchuk: 6 goals, 11 points (previously 15 points in 32 games)
Zajac: 4 goals, 10 points (previously 15 points in 33 games)
Greene: 6 points (previously 10 points in 33 games)
Rolston: 6 points (previously 4 points in 16 games)

Clarkson: 4 goals (previously 4 goals in 33 games)
Zubrus: 3 goals (previously 4 goals in 32 games)

Not to mention since January 1st:

Brodeur: 3-0-1, .910 SV%, 2.64 GA (previously 5-18-1, .886 SV%, 3.04 GAA)

I can take chunks from seasons of teams and dissect them and cast out the blame accordingly but come on, do you really think just because the Devils are having a good stretch it automatically means it was the coach? Teams have up's and downs all the time. If the Caps fired Bruce when they were going through their horrible stretch, and now that they started winning again you people would be saying the same thing about them.

Hey dont forget the captain was just traded, maybe it was his fault that they sucked so bad.

I'll tell you why the Devils are where they're at. The team just blows.

Parise is out, Rolston, Brodeur, and Arnott are 100 years old. Kovalchuk is playing in a system he doesnt fit.

but whatever I dont really care either way, blame who you want. Just giving my .02.

If you actually watch the games and ignore the stats, you'll see the difference is there. This teams was never really in to any games when Mac was behind the bench. Since Lemarie's 2nd game back (the game after his first practice) they have been in every game and most players are busting their asses every shift. Thats the coaching.

its not one 1 man.

but its mostly.

the team blew all season but shouldn't have. it was completely mismanaged. anyone around the organization would most likely tell you the same thing. i work with their power skating coaches, the guys would come to work (not w the devils) and flat out say ' the guy is not a coach, he treats them like its a mite team. everything is always okay and theres not reason to panic or for urgency '

you could see it.

and if you want to go down that road, langenbrunner was one of the biggest cancers you can find in his final 2 years.

publicly critisized sutter (who probably deserved it) and lemaire, yet praised maclean. what is the common difference both sutter and lemaire shared that mac didn't?

AND with a week to go last season he was given a games rest, not a benching a games rest. he then refused to talk to the team, the media and lemaire. i loved him for a long time as a member of the team but he went sour, and its undeniable.

watch the team since mac's firing, forgeting stats even, which still work in lemaires favor, even in games they've lost its been a completely different team. mainly in that they actually work hard

its not the good stretch, its seeing their overall play since the firing, and its been night and day different.

it was not just the coach. but it was primarily the coach and how he and management carried a team that is plenty capable of winning games.

the other two blames for me go to bad locker room attitude (corrected)
and horrible horrible lazy play in net mainly by brodeur, oh and lemaire benched him for 4 games, check his stats in the games since.
