When the disgusting word is used in reference to a sewer, that pronounciation is correct. However, when used in the lizard's ass context, either pronounciation is acceptable. You must utilize herpatology texts to find this information or you could ask me since I'm really smert.

Moreover, since "smoka'" is not only a shortened word but also common slang, you can use it thus appropriately. <smo-kA-a> is the way you should have read that.
