Gets a two game suspension from the conference and a fine...

"It's possible that Pelini still could face sanctions from the Big Ten Conference office for his postgame comments about the referees, which could violate the league's sportsmanship standards. According to the Big Ten Handbook, standard disciplinary actions for such violations can include admonishment, reprimand, fines of up to $10,000 or up to a two-game suspension."

At least we won't have to see the guy for two games, the bowl game and the first game of the 2014 season.

His six-year record is better than contemporary Dabo Swinney, head coach at Clemson (in part, due to a head-to-head victory). People rave about the job Bill O'Brien's done at Penn State. He's 0-2 versus Pelini. People were high on Northwestern's Pat Fitzgerald. He's 1-2 versus Pelini. Brady Hoke looked like a home run hire at Michigan. He's 1-2 against Bo. Mark Dantonio looks like one of the best coaches in the country right now and is 1-2 against NU's head coach. Auburn wonderboy Gus Malzahn is 0-1 against Pelini. The now acclaimed Jerry Kill is 1-2 against Bo. Pat Hill had a terrific run at Fresno State but not against Pelini. Bill Snyder couldn't beat Bo. Neither did Mike Gundy. Neither did Art Briles. Gary Pinkel went 1-2. The body count is high of very good or great coaches that have fallen to Bo Pelini. If Bo's been outcoached a few times, so have a lot of his very worhty opponents

this is from "Big Red Netwrk" a blog on esps site Im sure there is nothing worth reading there though as we already know more than most and now more than our AD. Reading the posts from the last 24 hours and all I see is negativity yet you guys argue that it isnt the medias fault, we arent the only ones who red these posts guys! Our fanbase looks like a bunch of gloom and doom cry babies, read through the posts from the last 2 months and tell me Im wrong.

I told myself after the Iowa game that whatever decision was made I would be onboard and ready to carry on rooting for the Huskers whether I agreed or not. I think that is what a fan does but obviously my thinking is flawed there too.

Bo Should Stay (No Matter What Happens Today)

by Steve Hanway on November 29th, 2013 89 comments so far

In a few hours, Nebraska will finish the regular season with what should be a hard-hitting game against a physically sound opponent. Some people think that whether or not Bo Pelini gets a ninth win in the game should determine whether he remains the coach of the Huskers. Regardless of what happens today (including a lopsided defeat), Bo should be retained. "Should" doesn't mean he will, only that the right choice is to keep him for at least one more year.

The Record
It doesn't seem that people are necessarily unhappy with his win-loss record. Instead, it's that the wins often aren't pretty and the losses are often very ugly. Pelini inherited a 5-7 team with a horrific defense. The following year, that team went 8-4 and tacked on a ninth win in the Gator Bowl. The defense had improved, but was hardly dominating. That came a year later. The offense however was generally woeful in 2009. Still, his team went 9-3 before falling one second short of the Big 12 championship and then embarrassed Arizona in the Holiday Bowl to go 10-4. Pelini declared "Nebraska's back and we're here to stay".

The following year, ignited by Taylor Martinez, the team cruised to a 10-2 record marred by a puzzling home loss to Texas and a low-scoring flag-fest at College Station. His team jumped out to a three-score lead before losing the Big 12 championship by a field goal. The emotionally wounded team gave a lifeless performance in a Holiday Bowl rematch against a Washington team they had humiliated in Seattle.

His debut season in the Big Ten saw his defense take a step backward as his team got pounded at Madison and in Ann Arbor, and allowed Northwestern to escape with an upset victory. A Capital One Bowl loss to South Carolina followed.

Last season, saw his team improve (mostly on offense) to 10-2 with a bad loss at Columbus and a poor defensive game against UCLA. That set up a rematch with Wisconsin for the conference championship that couldn't have been uglier. The team then hung for three quarters with an outstanding Georgia team before surrending two touchdowns in the fourth to lose the game.

At 8-3, this year's team suffered an ugly home loss to UCLA, a road loss to a surprisingly good Minnesota team, and a critical home loss and fumblefest to Michigan State. The injuries have abounded to key personnel. Pelini's five conference wins already guarantee a sixth straight winning conference campaign.

The Money
Responsible fiscal management, particularly during tough times, would seem to demand that you don't pay north of $7 million to make a winning coach go away. Another year would make that figure smaller, it also should shed light on whether this is a team headed for better days or truly on the decline.

Iowa
Oddly enough, a loss to Iowa almost proves the wisdom of keeping the coach. A year ago, people were contemplating raising the money to buy out Kirk Ferentz at Iowa. His team had declined for three straight years. Now the team is going to be at least 3 wins better than a year ago and maybe five, and it's played a tougher schedule than a year ago. There was no quick fix or even some huge infusion of talent. Ferentz was just allowed to coach his team and they responded. It's also worth noting that Pelini enters todays game with a 2-0 record against Ferentz.

The Message
Ten years ago, Nebraska sent a horrible message to prospective hires around the country. "We'll fire a coach that goes 9-3". Is it any wonder that the best and brightest weren't lining up to take the job? Fire a guy that goes 9-3 or even 8-4 and you're not only broadcasting that you'll fire a winner, but that you'll happily do it again.

After six seasons, it seems clear that Bo Pelini won't erase Tom Osborne from the record books or from holding the #1 spot in the hearts of Nebraska fans. It's not looking like Bob Devaney's place is in jeopardy either. Bo's plight eerily resembles Earle Bruce, his former coach at Ohio State. Bruce won nine or ten games for 7 straight seasons. Then he was fired for a six-win campaign, mostly for not being Woody Hayes. The school hired John Cooper and didn't manage to win nine games for another six seasons. Cooper's final win percentage was worse than Bruce's. Fire a successful coach and you're likely to get a worse one. That's what happened after Frank Solich. NU shouldn't repeat the mistake.

Common sense, numbers and facts. There is no room in this forum that crap. What are you thinking Lou? Get on board with the rest. Bo is bad, simply because a bunch of vocal know it alls say so. You, and those like you, are just a kool aid drinking Bo apologist. He needs to be fired so Nebraska can take that next plunge down into dismal failure.

Good stuff tho Lou, for real.

Seriously - you sound like numbers and facts about how the team plays erases the negative light Bo casts on the program. It would be magical if Bo could control his anger issues and mouth for just one season. The problem is Bo can't, and that is what irks the thinking Husker fan. Perhaps the negative light on the Husker football program is a good thing that I just can't see, but you seem to overlook. :L

Ridiculous

"His six-year record is better than contemporary Dabo Swinney, head coach at Clemson (in part, due to a head-to-head victory) Dabbo has built his program to a top 15 team every year since, while winning big games. People rave about the job Bill O'Brien's done at Penn State. He's 0-2 versus Pelini. With crippling sanctions. People were high on Northwestern's Pat Fitzgerald. He's 1-2 versus Pelini. It's FUCKING NORTWESTERN Brady Hoke looked like a home run hire at Michigan. He's 1-2 against Bo. Mark Dantonio looks like one of the best coaches in the country right now and is 1-2 against NU's head coach. Auburn wonderboy Gus Malzahn is 0-1 against Pelini ARKANSAS ST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. The now acclaimed Jerry Kill is 1-2 against Bo. Minnesota was horrible the past two seasons, they finally had a pulse this year and look what happened Pat Hill had a terrific run at Fresno State but not against Pelini Nebraska won the only meeting between the coaches, Fresno went on to a 4-8 record VERY IMPRESSIVE. Bill Snyder couldn't beat Bo. Neither did Mike Gundy. Neither did Art Briles. Gary Pinkel went 1-2. The body count is high of very good or great coaches that have fallen to Bo Pelini. Bo did a decent job vs the BIGXII with the talent that was handed to him. He's yet to replicate that talent after 6 years. If Bo's been outcoached a few times, so have a lot of his very worhty opponents."

I did notice the writer omitted a few coaches though. Mack Brown, Bob Stoops, Urban Meyer, Jim Mora Jr., Frank Beamer and Bret Beilima. A much more impressive group of coaches than the ones above.

Nah. I am a Husker fan and, using the power of THINKING, I realize that all this negative bullshit brought on by a delusional fan base and a local media with an agenda hurts the program a lot more than a coach with an attitude problem.

Deal with what? the fact that everyone who claims to be a fan of the Huskers is a better athlete than we have on the team, is a better coach than anyone we have on the staff and is smarter than anyone who is a paid administrator for the university.

The fact that the whining has not stopped since the first game of the season makes me sick.

We arent a mediocre team andwe havent been since Bo got here. Mediocre is average and average is .500.

Christ almighty to listen to the shit posted here you would think that there are 300,000 capable replacements right here in the State of Nebraska.

He s here for at least another season so get in, sit down, buckle up, and STFU. Quit the dambitchin and GBR

a ravaged psu team that we've barely beat Obrien has done a great job with avg talent and depth

ark state ? lol malzahn would do work against us with Auburn

NW: those have been epic and close..Nwestern doesn't have the talent either compared to Nebraska

geeze fresno tho?

okie state definitely got better when we left the big12
I don't like our chances with them now or since 2011..

msu I'll give you that but we would be nasty with narduzzi

baylor we beat in 08... really that how low were slipping to brag about a young rg3 win and a win against Florence. .

pinkel I will also give but he's about to make history for mizzou not swing at refs.

I've never taken the good away from bo. but some of those teams weren't spectacular. ark stat fresno a typical pinkel team psu after Joe...baylor???

I'm always gonna support Nebraska no matter what that not gonna change but We can and should be better. getting slapped three times at home.

If money the excuse say it , you can't find someone better say it.
throw a tantrum " I won't apologize" next day apology comes out haha really .

3-4 losses coming up I'll still be here to cheer with them no matter what.

No; his exact words were: "I don't apologize for what I've done"......

I personally, don't want too burn the house down. I don't give a shit whether he stay's or he goes, I'll support the team either way, but don't try to misconstrue what was actually said.
