Man, only need 1 of 8 third conversions, with all those first downs. I didn't think it could get worse, guess I was wrong

Wyoming had 35 first down with only 1 3rd down conversions. That is amazing!!!!
That yells defensive play calling to me. Having them out of step early in a series.

Actually that is not true in this game. Wyoming was 1 for 8 on third downs yesterday. And that 1 conversion was towards the end of the game.

So CFB Live just put up a stat that said Wyoming converted 56% of their 3rd downs.

Nebraskache defensche took a verbal lasching from May and Holtsch.

How in the fuck you go 1 for 8 on 3rd down conversions yet get 35 first downs total is jaw dropping.

Wyoming averaged 8.25 yards per play.

Bo and his defense had been responsible for 6 of the top 8 worse games for Nebraska's defenses in average yards per play. Wyoming is number 6 all time against Nebraska.

When your getting 8-12 yards on 1-2 down you don't need third downs haha

Has Nebraska ever even done that to a cupcake in the glory days?

For that to happen in year 6 of Pelini is :L

Dorsey and Suh made Pelini look good. Without DT's like them his system is exposed. Players like that don't come around often and Pelini needs to hire a proven D coordinator before the heat really comes down.

Wyoming had 30 carries and 44 pass attempts.

The fact is that it's the same Pelini defense we've grown accustomed to. They can't get off the field and give up big plays on 3rd downs.[/QUOTE

Agreed. And anyone who thinks these aren't mostly Bo's defensive schemes has been somkin corn husks waaaay too long.

well, at least Bo is saying the right things. Reading articles from his pressers over the last couple of days.

Bo was saying they went real simple on D on Saturday. Then to make adjustments they went even simpler. and that had his young defense confused even more because they just weren't picking up the stuff the coaches were trying to get them to do. Saw an article that had Evans saying that he knew it was bad when the young guys were asking way too many questions, meaning he knew they were confused. They were too worried about assignments and not messing up that they weren't just going out there and playing.

Hopefully there's a big step this week.

One thing that really bothers me though, why the heck didn't Bo have his defense prepared for that back emptying the backfield? It killed him last season and I'd think he would have found a solution for it. Maybe he's saving that awesome defensive scheme for UCLA.

Same thing we hear every year players confused afraid to fuck up. Yes nobody wants to make mistake but if your young its gonna happen but atleast fuck up at 100mph.

Same spread shit is killing bo 4-5 wide back or wr in motion boom 10-12 run or pass to the flat for a 6-8 yard gain. That why wyo didn't have many third downs.

Bo needs to retire the scheme clearly it's too hard and not working

Pretty simple for the opposition to pick plays that work against Nebraska.

From Wisconsin, Jet Sweep.

From Georgia, just block the D line and let your QB have all day to pick a receiver. Put seven guys to block, five lineman, a tight end, and a running back. Southern Miss might strive for that if their running game is as bad as it looked against TEXAS STATE. But then, what does it mean if Nebraska makes the Southern Miss running game look awesome? Rhetorical question by the way.

From Wyoming, back out of the backfield to clear out the middle linebacker, QB up the middle.

Pelini was pretty calm in the pressers, seems to me that he knew all too well the young guys were in way over their heads, I sure hope he's right in that it's all fixable.

Jared Afalavaaallva didn't play "strained neck" on Sat, no word on when he might be back just "day to day" I thought it was strange I didn't hear his name called Sat, he's one of the guys I was looking forward to seeing in action
