You do remember that Goodell tried to suspend him for much, much longer and the suspension was overturned because it violated the CBA right?

He tried to hit him with a 10 game ban. It was reduced to 4 games because that is all that Hardy was eligible to be suspended for under the guidelines of the CBA.

Seems to me that the commissioner job is bloated, outdated, and by addition, preposterous. The NFL could easily abolish that position, form a committee of unbiased experts, and keep on running along quite smoothly, if not better.
