I want to know the reasoning beyond the firing of Dawson and Perez... Does Jeter not like them or something?

Usually execs have a plan and want to bring in their own people.

Making unpopular moves is the opposite of gutless. Kudos to Jeter for coming in and making needed changes.

If he fires Mattingly it will be interesting to see Yankee fans reactions

He should be fired, I love Mattingly as an all time Yankee

But he is an awful manager

He does make moves that defy rational thinking.

I think Dave Roberts' season in LA, showed us what Mattingly is

All he has done is underachieve as a manager, even the Marlins had no excuse to be this bad this season, that team had some talent

Lets see what the Dodgers do in the playoffs before throwing a party for Roberts. If Kershaw pitched well in the playoffs maybe we look at Donny differently.

We shall see...Thought it said a lot when the Yankees chose Joe G over Mattingly, knowing how popular the Donnie selection would have been

Yes this is true but I would think those two would still remain

Joe was the right choice. I felt it then and I really fell it now.

Some will probably hate it but most will know there isn't anyone on the staff worth saving.

Start over fresh is the best way to go IMO.

Gutless for asking somebody else to do it

I can understand that point of view but its not like he had any prior relationship.

The best leaders know when to delegate. As long as they didn't find out via twitter or the media I think it was not the wrong move.

I sent my Jeff Conine rookie card to him at the Marlins office in April to sign it. I also enclosed a small self-addressed stamped envelope so he could mail it back to me. I never got it back, and I guess I never will.
Never know, When Jeter cleans house maybe he'll send that back to you
