I wonder if Anderson is getting the Callahan talk now.

Put away the brooms.
Tom Lemke throws a complete game shutout as NU holds on to beat A&M (1-0). A&M had 5 hits to NU's 4, there were no errors. NU's lone score came on a two out homer by Cade Thompson in the second.

shades- to your chagrin this only spells that the future is bright. i know that it broke your heart that coach pelini got the job over coach gill when your precious billy boy got the axe.
today is just another example that with more experience, this pitching staff is going to shine. since pitching is 80% of the game, that means good things are coming.
you've been trying to bury the huskers ever since you arrived on the boards. you can just go fuck yourself you idiotic asshat!

"“It shouldn’t be hard. We need to have some pride in this program. Some days we come out here and show courage to do it. Some days we don’t act like we want to be out here. ... I thought this pitching staff would be better than this, based on what I saw in the fall and preseason. I’ve got to keep trying to find ways to get more out of them.”

NU's third year pitching coach

Just one of the examples? Good things are coming? Look...Lemke is a good looking prospect but i fail to see the light at the end of tunnel just because one young pitcher has a good game. When Anderson proves he can develop a pitcher without Rob Childress doing the work then you may have a point. Up until this point the pitching staff has been mediocre at best. You just don't get better because you become one year older next year...you get better by being developed. And the fact is...the majority of the other Big 12 schools has good young guys also...lets not act like NU is the only team who plays young players and the only reason we are so young is because of Mike Anderson's roster management. This program won't be good again and competing to host a regional until the head man is gone.

Well let's look at the pitching staff from last year compared to this year.

ALL GAMES:
2009 ERA: 6.22
2010 ERA: 5.29

2009 Runs/G: 7
2010 Runs/G: 5.7

2009 ER/G: 6.18
2010 ER/G: 5

2009 BB/G: 4.7
2010 BB/G: 4

2009 OBA: .291
2010 OBA: .286

CONFERENCE GAMES ONLY:
2009 ERA: 7.32
2010 ERA: 5.57

2009 Runs/G: 8
2010 Runs/G: 6.1

2009 ER/G: 7
2010 ER/G: 5.2

2009 BB/G: 4.4
2010 BB/G: 4.1

2009 OBA: .315
2010 OBA: .295

Looks to me that this extremely young pitching staff is doing better than the more experienced staff last year.
