@mattbarrows: Source: Kendall Hunter suffered an Achilles tear, not ankle injury. He is expected to be placed on injured reserve. #49ers

Looks like his injury is worse than we initially feared.

It gets worse. Hunter tore his Achilles. FUCK.

I'll see your FUCK and raise you a thousand more - and if we replace Hunter with Dixon, I'm doubling down!

I'm assuming getting healthy for the playoffs is out of the question for Kendall now.

Getting healthy for next season is down the toilet as well.

Really? How long does it usually take someone to come back from a torn Achilles?

This is Brandon Jacobs chance to prove himself. He is on a 1 year contract right? If he does good he may be playing somewhere else next year with a bigger role in the offense.

In the past it took 2 years, and before that ended most players careers. At best I see it as a 1 year injury now. He plays RB so it isn't like a Suggs situation.

Damn, I like him a lot. I really thought he had a bright future ahead of him. Hopefully he is able to return and get healthy

WTF??? Hunter out and its the achilles? SON OF A BITCH!

Oh man, I hope he fully recovers and returns to his true form next year but fucking A, this could set him back.

This might mean an increase load for Gore along with Jacobs(time to shine you yapper) and LMJ(hope you been paying attention)

If anything, IMHO, RB may be a target in the upcoming draft for us.

Bingo, Clyde... to the scouting cave!!!!

It actually depends on the severity of the injury. On average, it takes anywhere from 5-12 months as far as recovery period goes (surgery, casting, treatment, etc). There's a chance he's out for next year as well but we actually don't know that yet.

I read an article that Vilma hits both Hunter and Williams on that play for the injuries. I didn't see the replay, can anyone confirm?

Pretty sure that's right. He definitely was the hit/block by Williams, and I believe he rolled up Hunter.

Damn that sucks, Hunter has bailed the team out quite a few times this year... I forget the opponent but they were backed up to the goalline and he busted it for a 1st down but they called a bs penalty, then the very next play he busted it out again for a 1st down.

Well, this is why they got Jacobs and drafted LMJ... in case someone went down, but we all expected it to be Gore.

Confirmed. Vilma pancakes Williams and was the primary tackler on Hunter. No question his hits/tackles caused or largely contributed to both injuries; however, equally, I believe there is no question the hits/tackles were not malicious and the injuries were not intentional.

Yup, Williams knee buckled before he really engaged. You could see as he jump-set that as he landed his knee gave out. Hunter looked to have injured before he was rolled up. It also has been said that it is a partial tear. Which, if that's the case, he shouldn't be out next year, and should be able to participate in the offseason program. Although on a limited basis in the spring.

Just terrible. Hunter is one of the finest backups in the league. Very quick and tough to bring down.
