I gotta admit, he never impressed me last year, but I'm starting to get more intrigued.
Trade up for another second rounder and grab him?

Initially I thought yes, but the more I looked into him, no way. He has not shown he can read a defense. Maybe in Chip's scheme that would be less of an issue, but it sounds like he is a major developmental project as an NFL QB.
Mariota showed a lot more ability to read defenses than Hundley. If you actually equate the two, well, I think that says a lot about your understanding of Mariota.
Mariota was never asked to read as much. That shit is so simple in Oregon. The play dictates where the ball goes off a few simple reads.
i also heard the same thing. Besides Mariota, he would fit our system the best... but hes the worst oneIt's true that Mariota played in a simplistic scheme by NFL standards, but I think what Hundley was asked to do was even simpler, and scouts were still troubled by his tendency to take his eyes off the downfield receivers and start scrambling.
Enut your hatred for Mariota is clouding your brain. Your talking ridiculously stupid. Go to the tape, Mariota's reads vs Ohio State in the bowl game were quick, precise and spot on. He gets rid of the ball quickly, and accurately. He looks to throw first and run second. He can throw to a spot, he doesn't need his receiver to get "college" open. There is a Huge Huge difference between Mariota and Hundley.Mariota was never asked to read as much. That shit is so simple in Oregon. The play dictates where the ball goes off a few simple keys. Not the QB seeing the coverage and making the call on the fly.
