Hmmm,

QB Joe Montana
RB Jim Brown (he'd be a RB in a modern offense)
FB Larry Centers (Jim Brown blocks for Jim Brown lol. Cover that)
TE1- Tony Gonzalez
TE2- Gronk
WR1 Jerry Rice
WR2 Don Hutson
WR3 Randy Moss
LT Tony Boselli (in his prime was the best I've seen, if choosing career, Pace)
LG John Hannah
C Dwight Stephenson
RG Jim Turner
RT Anthony Munoz
backup - Bruce Matthews (did it all)

D (4-3)

RDE Deacon Jones
DT JJ Watt (3-4 end would be a 4-3 DT)
DT Alan Page
LDE Reggie White
WLB Lawrence Taylor
MLB Ray Lewis
SLB Bobby Bell (Amazing all around LB and insane athlete)
CB Deion Sanders
CB Night Train Lane
SS Ken Houston (not moving a FS here)
FS Ronnie Lott

ST
K Lou Groza (reason they name an award after him. And great backup at LT too)
P Sammy Baugh
KR Gale Sayers
PR Devin Hester

Not bad, not perfect, don't think I missed anything glaring but sounds solid to me.

Sorry... but Reggie White has to be on EVERYONES list.
Do you think he'd be a better 3-4 DE than Bruce Smith or JJ Watt? Its kinda nuts that JJ Watt has more NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards than Reggie White but you'd figure that White would be more of a force against the run than both. I'm going to update my team. I generally think the 80s are pretty overrated but there are definitely some all-time players from that era and Reggie White is arguably the start of the list.

QB - Aaron Rodgers
RB - Jim Brown
TE - Rob Gronkowski (throwing injuries out)
WR - Randy Moss
WR - Jerry Rice
WR - Steve Smith
LT - Anthony Munoz (bulk him up a bit)
LG - Bruce Matthews
C - Dan Dierdorf
RG - Larry Allen
RT - Willie Roaf

DE - Bruce Smith
NT - Ted Washington (best NT of all time is a bit limited)
DE - Reggie White (beat doubles regularly so I'm good with this)
OLB - Von Miller
OLB - Lawrence Taylor
ILB - Jack Lambert
ILB - Ray Lewis
FS - Ronnie Lott (got my positions switched)
SS - Troy Polamalu
CB - Prime Time
CB - Charles Woodson

Coach - Bellichick
KR - Devin Hester
PR - Prime Time
K - Stephen Gostkowski
P - Shane Lechler

Youngblood over Reggie White? No way no how. Reggie White might be the greatest defensive player ever. Its either him or LT. You cant put Youngblood in the conversation for greatest defensive player ever, can you? You can with Reggie White.

18 St. Louis Rams or St. Louis/AZ Cardinals on your all time list? Come on.

Patrick Peterson one of the greatest CB's ever?

Good question on Reggie there. Watch him with Wade and Buddy when they ran some 3-4 concepts and he played inside a lot in the 4-3 early on too.

Watt is amazing against the run by the way not just saying that, he's a real outlier there. Just his ability to penetrate and cut and catch is something only he can do at that level.

230 tackles against the run the past 4 years which is the only lineman over 200, so by volume the best, but we all remember seeing players like Freeney get blown off the line and use his speed to make a tackle 10 yards downfield so looking further.

177 of those tackles were for 2 yards or less (best in the league in that time span at any position, Suh has 102 for comparison, next best by a D lineman is 132 by Calais Campbell).

112 tackles by Watt against runners for no gain or a loss (nobody else better). So nearly half his tackles on a runner are for 0 or negative yardage. Suh and Calais Campbell at 65 and 60 are the next best for a lineman, and the only ones with more than half of Watt.
Lavante David has 92.
Kuechly has 68.

Lets put it this way. In the past 10 years, Watt has the most tackles for a loss against runners in the league.... Despite only being in the league for 5 years.

So a quick breakdown throwing some known run stoppers out there on Dline and MLB...

Watt 49% of his tackles on the run for 0 yards or less.
Ray Lewis 18%
London Fletcher 15%
Takeo Spikes 15%
Ted Washington 16%
Pat Williams 33%
Michael Strahan 31%

Watt 77% of his run tackles for less than 2 yards
Lewis 48%
Fletcher 42%
Spikes 44%
Washington 56%
Pat Williams 59%
Strahan 64%

You really could argue Watt is more dominant making plays against the run than he is against the pass. And this is the only guy with multiple 20 sack seasons and the most sacks since he joined the league.

I really think Watt is on his way to be one of those players in 20 years that we look back on in a similar light to Reggie White.

And I've always admired Wade Phillips... Those three you listed all played in his schemes... Talk about amazing. Could put them as the three best big DE's of the past 30 years. Of course his scheme uses that 1 gap penetrating defensive line rather than the 2 gap where the D line is more about push and read than penetrate. So I personally would consider a Phillips 3-4 for a D-lineman more like a 4-3 lineman than a guy coming along in the Fairbanks 3-4 (most of the non-Phillips guys, Parcells/Belichick and co, Pitt, etc.)

I was doing an NFC West one, minus the Seachickens. Even with those three teams, that is one hell of a team.
