Now that the field of 10 is set, who are you guys rooting for?

In the AL, of course. But then, who do we want to win the NL wild card game and the Nats series?

I'd like the Cards to knock out the Braves and Nats, but I doubt that will happen. If the Braves face the Nats I think I might prefer the Braves there.

In the AL I'd like either Baltimore or Oakland to go to the WS.

I'd love the A's to make it to the ALCS (and then flame out), for purely selfish reasons. It would sure make their "we just can't field a good team when playing in that horrible home stadium" claim wither up and die, hopefully keeping them out of San Jose.

It was very interesting seeing the huge difference in fan participation between Oakland and Los Angeles. Chavez Ravine was 1/2 to 1/3 full while the doggies were trying to win a wild-card spot, and the A's had a completely full park for their final run.

Not what I think will happen, but what I want to happen.

Wild Card Games:
Orioles over Rangers
Braves over Cardinals

AL Playoffs:
Orioles over Yankees
Tigers over Athletics
--------------------
Orioles over Tigers

NL Playoffs:
Braves over Nationals
Giants over Reds
---------------------
Giants over Braves

World Series:
Giants over Orioles

I think the Braves have a better shot at beating the Nats than the Cards do, and we played well against the Braves, so I am rooting for them today.

Not looking good so far, though.

In the AL, anyone except Oakland or NY. I hope Texas does not make it, but not because I do not like them. I just do not think they deserve to lose 3 straight. Too good of a team to be lumped in with Buffalo.

I guess that leaves Bal or Detroit. I have a lot of Tiger fan friends (I lived in Michigan for about 6 years), so I guess I will go with them, but I also kinda like the idea of an Orange and Black World Series.

Some of the games might actually be in October, too!

I don't really blame em for throwing shit on the field. Glad no one got hit though. Why can't the Umpire overrule such a terrible call?

But that's the thing, a good football fan knows Buffalo had an AWESOME team. No other team has been to the Superbowl 4 times in a row (or even 3?). Sure they didn't win any but getting there is the test.

No doubt but the Braves fucked themselves with 3 errors that led to 4 unearned runs well before that play.

Not saying it didn't suck, but it's not like it was a 2-2 game.

No doubt.

But regardless, it is feat of futility. 20 years later, they are a punchline, not a pinnacle.

I think that the big problem was that the ump (finally) called "infield fly" about a second before the ball would have been caught. The ump is suppose to "immediately" call it, once it becomes apparent that it should be an "infield fly". It seems a rather straight-forward argument that if the ump couldn't decide until a second before the ball was to be caught that I.F. should apply, then more than "ordinary effort" was required from the fielder (or it would have been obvious much earlier).

Blown call.

Agreed, I just think it's the casual fan or the intentionally ignorant one using it like a punchline (I was happy to call Texas that too). I consider them among the best NFL teams ever.

As a fan, I would rather miss in the LDS or CCG than lose in the WS or SB. Extend that out to four straight (or potentially three for Texas) and forget about it.

Just the thought makes me queezy.

Atlanta's 13 is overshadowed by their 1, I think...

Yeah from a fan's perspective its gotta hurt (the Buffalo scenario) a ton. But from the historical evaluation you gotta give props.

I was thinking about Atlanta's run too, nice work bringing them up, they were among the best teams ever, and for so long...

Meanwhile the past few years the Atlanta team has been snakebit. 2010 Brooks Conrad, 2011 epic collapse, 2012 3 errors and a bad call...

You want to keep them out of San Jose? Any particular reason why?

The Miami Dolphins went to 3 Super Bowls in a row in the early 70s.Losing to Dallas before beating My Redskins and then the Vikings. But you are right,The Bills were a great team they just had the misfortune of facing the NFC east 4 times in a row :D

Because that is where the $$ is, and the Giants contractually own the territory.

A LOT of the money that was used to build AT&T came on board with the expectation of box sales from silicon valley. If the I's move to SJ, a lot of those box sales will transfer to them.
