If the Sixers were to deal Butler, it won't be because the Rockets poisoned the well. It's because they feel that the trade would make them better.

They're not tampering with a free agent, they're talking trade with the Sixers. It's on the Sixers to get Jimmy to enable the S&T if and when they agree to a deal.

Of course, they are obviously also talking with said trade target who IS a FA currently, so that part is an issue. Of course, no different than the Nets basically already having a deal in place with Kyrie....
