How In The FUCK is LSU Ranked Above Us?

They are not making their money off the SEC network because they are talking about it. They are making their money off that network because there is value in a conference network that holds high quality teams, players, coaches, and an absolutely crazy loyal fan base of an entire conference. How many other conferences have fans that chant their conference's name?

Hell, it was brilliant for the SEC to partner up with ESPN. They could have started their own network like the Big 10 or PAC 12 but they would have had to shell out money for on air talent, cameras, studios, and other stuff like that. Let someone else supplement that stuff for you and then just watch the money pour in. Sounds like a smart business move by the SEC.

In the end, if there are undefeated or one loss teams that actually won their conferences or Notre Dame/XII, they should be given consideration for spots over two loss SEC teams period. If they don't end up on top of their conference, then screw em, but it is too early to worry about it now.

If Tennessee or Florida would actually win 3 games in a row, they would be in the rankings at 25th based on the media slant ~ that is what Tom is saying ~ I think.

Remember when those guys were National Champs no doubt just 5 weeks ago?

I remember telling people to calm down and that they had 4 losses coming their way still. But the overwhelming majority of people here disagreed and called me crazy. They had bought into the message ESPN had slung across the nation after seeing them play 3 games.

Hill was Heisman winner and Aggies had a Natty on a platter.

I remember that.

I said nothing about the B1G. My side was strictly the lopsided bias the SEC enjoys from their bankrolling network.

You don't have to say anything about the B1G. I simply used that as an example. The word bias itself requires something to be compared against and I used the B1G as an example of that. How can something be lopsided (your word) if it doesn't have two sides?

My point was the problem with your argument is that the SEC is a better conference. Therefore to accuse a media outlet of bias because they cover the better conference is not only ridiculous but it sounds like sour grapes. If the B1G or any other conference you want to look at, gets their house in order then they won't have to worry about who's talking about the SEC's house.

And interestingly all this bias talk could be moot. The SEC could very well end up with a bunch of two loss teams and out of the playoff picture.

funny thing about the sec is its just 2-3 teams doing work while the rest coattails their success. sec east is a joke a real sad one esp with fla tenn and vandy. typically the sec winner has been in the west. with the Bama dynasty lsu/auburn runs.

3 teams winning titles and the rest beating their chest screaming sec. when the big12 had ou and Texas doing work we didn't flex or brag about the big12. this is the first time In decades that the magnolia state is showing up fall wise.


all that talent in the sec and it's just the same 3 teams getting titles all that nfl talent in uga sc fla tamu mizzou and only 1 of those teams I mention are ranked...

bias is real. ole miss was dominated vs lsu and only fell a couple of spots. Bama got love for beating a slumping tamu team that was already exposed by ole miss n miss st. miss st resume is good but shouldn't they get hit for being in a tight game with uk ? just like fsu was dropped for close acc games.

sec team wise esp in polls get or go by different rules. and they won't play top non conference games because of hard conference games. ...auburn should have lost to k state and didn't look themselves.

I just don't believe the hype. the sec rise should really be the sec west rise. because that where the winner have been and top to bottom that has been a hard division. anyone scared of uk fla tenn vandy mizzou? what about ark ole miss and miss st last year...

I think there is this misconception that the SEC cannot be beaten, though.

When bowl season rolls around, however, they often seem to matchup quite evenly with their opponents from other Conferences.

This season is a relatively down year for the SEC and nobody realizes it yet. That's why Ole Miss is still overrated. That Conference deserves 1 team in the playoff this year.

There is a thread somewhere here where I said a couple years ago that we would know when the SEC returns back to Earth because on that year some other team or teams will emerge.

Well now here we are, except nobody is talking about how the SEC is a bit down. Instead they're talking about how good the teams in Mississippi are.

Just like how everyone was talking about how good South Carolina was.....until they got clobbered I week 1 by Texas A&M. And then they were talking about how good A&M was.......and then they were talking about how good Alabama was........and then they were talking about how good the Mississippi teams are.

And so on, and so forth.

There is definite bias in favor of the SEC. It doesn't start anywhere else but the media. They spoon feed us what we need to know, and then we walk around like zombies regurgitating the same nonsense.

In bowl games you get teams matched up that finish relatively equal in their specific conference. The SEC is 36-20 in bowl games over the last 6 years. The next closest power 5 conference is the Big 12 (24-22) and PAC 12 (21-19).
