 what should we do?

I'm from the west coast and I LOVE HOCKEY, and I'm pissed as hell that the NHL has another Lockout. I could give a rats ass about what each sides have to say. To me its all blah blah, and a bunch of hot air.

I think its time the NHL gets a message from the fans, and the only way to do it is to stage a walk out. Yeah its a very long shot which will never happen, but what IF once the lockout is lifted and teams are set to play their first games the fans leave once warm ups are over. That would be a sight to see, and I'm sure it would make some news.

But like I say its just a thought, which I don't see happening.

I don't see it happening either. These strikes or lockouts appear to be the standard negotiating tool. If anyone really cared about fans, they would not stop play. With so much money being made in sports, you figure that the two sides could come up with a fair way to split it. One day they may come to work and find no one in the seats. Unfortunately that probably won't be the case and I will be there to root on my Red Wings.

The only way that fans can really send a message is by staying away from the game when they finally get this resolved:

Don't buy tickets, don't buy merchandise (including NHL '13), and don't buy Center (Centre) Ice. Hit these guys where it truly and only matters to them, in the wallet.

Like every other major sport luxury boxes are a big part of NHL teams revenue. It's one thing if fans boycott buying tickets, apparel, Center Ice & so on, but if Corporations & small business stopped buying luxury boxes & providing advertising dollars it would be even better.

Everyone chips in some cash so that's there's enough money to hire the biggest, baddest Hell's Angels out there. Then have 'em just kind of stand at the entrance ways "discouraging" anyone from going into the arena, if you get my drift.

A couple of months of empty building and they'll get the message.

Start up a TV Network and show AHL, college, Euro and Russian league games for the faithful fans of the game itself and not just teams. Have the people running those teams make all that money for a while.

Then have Davos or Mettalurg jerseys outsell Hawks and Rangers, etc. Merchandising cash goes over there too.

Yep. All we need is to have a sports network show the alternative. And it can happen because it's not like the company that owns the rights to broadcast hockey is has ties to the owner of one of the NHL teams. They certainly wouldn't fight to keep the game we love off the air to protect their own interests, right?
