Boise State.

I've always liked bad ass underdog types. But Boise State is a cut above. Petersen is all about heart, character and team over self. I love what they are about. It's so, so rare to see something like this. I can't get enough of it.

I don't think I've ever seen another small sports program accomplish as much with less than Boise State. I guess the Butlers and Gonzagas of the world come close. But they don't show up and crack heads on the big stage like Boise State.

They won the Rose Bowl when I thinking about schools to apply to and then another after I'd been accepted...

Born and raised a Florida Gator with my dad going to undergrad and law school at UF. On my dad's side they all went to Auburn and Alabama. All that, and growing up in south Florida made me SEC through and through. Went to every home game for years as a kid until I went to Vandy undergrad, and then UGa Law School. That means I am a UGa fan, and a bandwagon Vandy fan because who really would waste too much time pulling for Vandy in football (although that might change the way they are getting better).

Braves fan because I grew up in West Palm beach where the Braves trained each spring and we always hung out with the Braves. Got to get autographs, they had all sorts of baseball clinics we went to. Because I am an old guy, we had to listen to baseball on the radio and WSB was one of the superstations we could easily pick up as we went to bed. Then I moved to and lived in Atlanta for 20 years and was a season ticket holder from 1990 - 2002.

Carolina Hurricanes fan because I live in Raleigh, the only Pro sport we have, and hockey is one badass sport. It doesn't hurt that in my 10 years as a season ticket holder they've won a Stanley Cup, made the finals another year, and got to the Eastern Conf Finals another.

On a final note, on my mom's side she and all my aunts, uncles and cousins went to Illinois, and I have a nephew at Northwestern. So while not a B1G fan by any means, I have been around them long enough to have a good understanding of B1G culture. Have a brother who went to UVa undergrad, and I live in Raleigh/Durham so I also have a strong understanding the ACC culture.

That is all.

I got sick and tired of Georgia Tech not caring if they win or lose football and basketball games. Then they went out and hired Navy coach Paul Johnson. Now they suck and they don't care so neither do I, not anymore.

WTF Geneh? I'm sure you had an Av of that GT jalopy on the old site! We used to go back and forth (in fun) the year my Hawkeyes pasted GT in the Orange Bowl.

I could NEVER see myself just changing the school I live and die for year after year...

Just sayin

Became a Rams fan in the 60's. Loved the Blue and White colors and hooked on to the Dodgers blue and white soon there after.... Wasn't into college sports early on but once I was those Rams colors played a role once again as they made there color change and I hooked onto the Blue and Gold and found myself rooting for the Bruins, wasn't too hard, they were the best show in College football about that time. The Lakers and Kings just fit in as the Lakers found Kareem and the Kings found Wayne... need I say more?

So, after an Orange Bowl loss he stopped being a GT fan and became a fan of a team that went 8-4? And then continued to be a UNC fan even though they sucked?

uncfan, wtf did you guys do to Jaason Lewis. It is not going over well int he tidewater on that note.

It sounds like they needed to look at his academics or something first? I'm not sure, I don't follow recruiting that closely. I didn't even know you could "not accept" a verbal offer. I don't really get it because it sounds like they not only lost his commitment, but probably a lot of other guys in the future as well.

No, there is a lot more to the story than that. I was happy with the Orange Bowl appearance. I gave up on them recently. BUt I have always been a fan of ALL the ACC schools.

I guess it was the smackdown last year from Middle Tennessee that was the straw that broke the camel's back. I know people at GT and they just don't care about sports anymore.

I started seriously researching the other schools in the ACC and I like UNC the best - I didn't pick them because they won a National title or anything like that - it goes much deeper than that. UNC is doing everything it can to get better at ALL sports. Heck, they had a great football team until the NCAA came in and wrecked it. A few infractions? So what? :suds:

That's the thing. He is a sophomore. Even if his grades concern you, you accept the verbal and work with him. He has 5 semesters left of 8. This is a sure fire 5 star and possibly a top 10 in the nation recruit.

I know of no real red flags with him.

Odd

Thanks, wingsauce.

I am a bit mentally ill, though, got dysthymia, though it is under control. And NO I do not get any help from the gov't, I work two jobs.

What was your screen name on CBS? I don't remember wingsauce? I do remember talking with some cool Iowa fans, though.

GO CAPS!

I just did some more reading, and according to the scout board here is what i hope to be the truth:

He accepted the offer and the recruiter just wanted to talk to Fedora, and have Fedora talk to the HS coach before accepting anything and they are on the same page now. Yeah, it doesn't make any sense denying someone over grades when they have two and a half years to improve them but, who knows with the new academic standards and stuff Holden Thorpe was/is trying to set up.

I thought all the Iowa fans I talked to were pretty cool. I didn't encounter any that were fags or anything like that.

Actually, I do root for Iowa to win because their fanbase are cool people. Just don't count on me to root for Iowa against an ACC team! LOL

Hopefully our defense is improved and we can "win" the coastal again this year.
