How many playoffs y'all made since we went in dry on your overrated ass?

You're going to get him all excited.
Notre Dame played a significantly more difficult schedule than UCF.I think that I am an unbiased person regarding this discussion.
#1 - Losing to Purdue by such a large margin, is almost unforgivable. "Almost".
#2 - Notre Dame was the team that should have been left out. How did ND deserve in and UCF didn't? If going undefeated is what put ND in, then why not UCF? Their win over Auburn last year is far more impressive than anything ND has done recently.
#3 - Minus ND, I'd put Georgia in over Ohio St.
#4 - This year seemed to be clearly a 2 team race, and one of the minority of seasons where there are 2 clear favorites. Ohio St likely would have gotten whooped just as OU and ND were. So it really doesn't matter, cept for future comparisons of # of CFP appearances, but this year is a great example of why 8 would have been better than 4. That way Georgia, Ohio St, Washington & UCF could have been given a chance, if not to win a Title, to prove they were better or worse than each other.

Who did UCF play? 6 loss Pitt? I’m sure 9 loss UNC would have helped had they not been rained out. That was mostly due to having Michigan on the schedule, from what I can tell. Outside of Michigan, who has been exposed now, who else was so tough? 4 loss NW?

Last year is last year and should not have any bearing on who should be going to the playoffs this season. Especially considering UCF’s QB is out for the season.Well, they beat Auburn in last year's bowl game, yeah, the team that beat both Bama and Georgia.
They beat 10 win Cincy and 8 win Memphis(twice), and 8 win Temple, and yes, 6-6 Pitt.
So yes, it was an easier schedule, and I'm not arguing UCF should have gotten in OVER Notre Dame, I'm arguing for an 8 team tourney. I'd have ranked UCF #7 in the tournament, ND #6, OSU #5, Georgia #3, OU #4, and Wash #8. But that's just me.
This isn't 2014.That's what was said in 2014.
But Oklahoma beat Alabama in 2014 so obviously they will in 2018.This isn't 2014.
Was it analytics?
Man those committees can find a way to screw anything up.
Well great offenses and mediocre defenses aren’t winning much either. See Oklahoma. The days of great defense and mediocre offense don’t win you championships anymore. Always error on the side of better offenses when selecting. Both UGA and OSU would be better picks than ND this year.

News flash, going to 8 doesn’t solve the problem. In the BCS people cried that 4 would solve the problem, it didn’t. The NCAA tournament went from 64 to 68 and people STILL are crying about being snubbed. If you think the lines between 4-5 are close it only gets closer with 7-12. Washington would be up in arms over how a who didn’t even win their division is going to a P5 conference champ like Washington (the fact that Washington lost three games won’t matter to those people.)No, you are right, Notre Dame's schedule was tougher this year, and normally I don't look back to a prior season, but I only do on occasion look to bowl games, only because bowl games come AFTER the field is set, so it can show us things in retrospect. My point? UCF probably should have gotten into the Top 4 last year, the Top 8 FOR SURE.
And yes, in the past, teams like Cincy and Miami of Ohio got way up in the rankings only to get trounced in their bowl games, so that could happen to UCF "this year", but I don't think it would have last year.
I think instead of fans debating like we are, just expanding to 8 teams solves the problem.
The only whiners after that won't receive any sympathy from anyone but their own team's fans.
In all of cfb history, I don't know of a season where more than 6 teams had valid arguments for being #1 or Top 2, so throw in a guaranteed spot for a non-P5 team, and the 5 P5 Conf Champs and that leaves room for the 2 highest ranked non-Conf Champs. That should be plenty.
