I saw a dad try to fight a ref one time before he thought his 5 year old was tripped and there was no call. The better part was the kid fell because he was trying to take a slap shot while skating full speed(well full speed for a kid learning to skate). The ref was calm as the dad was yelling at him from the stand situated next to the rink and he was even calm when the dad opened the door to come on the ice. The absolute best part was when the dad went to run after the ref and fell flat on his face and the ref came over and helped him up being a nice guy. Needless to say the dad was so embarassed that he slinked back to his wife and didn't say another word. My whole team was cracking up as we waited for the rink, cheeering the little guys on the whole time.

I agree. You've really got to start lowering their expectations before they even learn to skate.
