I don't see this team as that bad. You all are just a bunch of fucking pessimist fans. I see no reason to think we won't beat the Ravens Monday.

I freely admit to pessimism....the last 23 years of futility has trained me well....also, it's more fun when I am pleasantly surprised than it is to be brutally disappointed, which my experience tells me happens every goddamned time I dare to show optimism......

It's not pessimism so much as it is having a few decades of experience with this club. If you ask me what you think of our roster, I'd say that we have some pretty good players and I like the potential of some guys on the team. But when I look at the quarterbacks we'll play and think about our passing attacks (on both sides), I just don't see how we win more than 6 or 7 games.

I have to disagree here. That team's loaded with talent imo.

Sure they're talented.....but we get them at home (wk 14) then we finish the season @Phil @Pit and at home vs Ravens.....I would rate all three of those as tougher games, unless Vick is injured by the time we go to Philly......

Because we play the Browns twice, Jax, Was, and Mia all in the first 6 weeks. That is 5 wins right there. I just don't see us being that bad. I'm not impressed at all by Oakland or SD. We won't get swept by both Bal and Pitt, Dallas always finds ways to lose and Vick will be hurt. Plus I'm just not impressed with Denvers team. I don't think Manning makes them anything more than an 8-8 team and that is if he can stay healthy. That O-line is bad.

I don't think Denver is that good either. Philly is always overhyped and Dallas continues to underachieve.

With that said, I don't think we will win more than 8 games. I hope I am wrong... but we don't have a legitimate #2 receiver, an average running game (that's being nice) and our secondary is old and slow.

A question I have wondered for years now -- Anyone know why we don't use Brian Leonard more? He is really only a 3rd down back?

Our O-line is starting two rookie guards, an over-the-hill center, and a left tackle that looked hurt during the preseason. Forgive me if I refrain from criticizing Denver's line.

I see no reason why Baltimore and Pittsburgh WON'T sweep us. Pittsburgh had absolutely no trouble with us at all last year. Ben toyed with the secondary. I have more faith that we can steal one vs. Baltimore, but don't like that we have to open with them while so many of our key players haven't been able to get back on the field yet.

Why would we start winning in San Diego now? We can't even win there when the Chargers absolutely suck. Do I think they're any good? Not really, but I also think it's a game we lose.

Oakland sucks and I expect we'll beat them. The Browns suck and I expect that we'll beat them twice. The Dolphins suck and I expect that we'll beat them.

I wouldn't be shocked if we are upset by either Washington or Kansas City.

KC is another game we could win. Make Matt Cassell throw the ball. Boling isn't a rookie either btw. I don't get all the hype for the Ravens. Flacco isn't any better than Dalton. Rice is good but he lost a hell of a guard this year and has a rookie starting in that spot instead. Bryan McKinney isn't any good, and Oher is average. Torey Smith has great potential but still doesn't have the surest hands.

And on D they are another year older and lost Suggs and Johnson. Lewis and Reed are both another year older. Neither of their OLB have ever played an NFL game. I just don't see the fascination with them.

And Pitt is more banged up than we are. No running back, no line, players on D are hurt and have some new starters coming in. We have no idea how they will to. Polamalu had a down year last year, we don't know if he will bounce back. Their CB's are bad. They have as many questions as we do.

If Marv handcuffs the offense, we won't be able to score as many points as the opposing team.

At best the Bengals will do this year is 9-7 with the crappy offensive line.

There's no chance they win 9. Poor coaching, line play on both sides, secondary, and running game. Also, no WR's after green. It's a bad team.

I agree. If the offensive lines blocking is crap like it was in the preseason Marv will stick with the running game even though it isn't working.

Love my Bengals but the line can't run block. The guy they brought in to help got hurt. Now we got a replacement center that is known to suck at run blocking.

Mendenhall will be back before we play them. They are reporting he may actually be ready to go by week 2. I don't think we'll get swept by Pitt and Bmore, but wouldn't be surprised in the least if we did

I also am not sure why many of you are writing off Denver as a win. That team was good last year, with a very good D, and now has Peyton Manning as their QB, not Tim Tebow.

We never win on the west coast, so I wouldn't call SD a lock by any means. I would actually call that game a L if I had to call it now. Dallas and Philly are both good. Philly is good beyond Vick. It wouldn't surprise me to see Dallas lose a game or 2 they should win, but I just don't see that team being the Bengals.

Based on our history and coaching alone, I don't know how anyone can just assume we're going to pick up all these wins against teams that are just as, or more talented and better coached than we are.

My bet is still 7-9 or 8-8. With this young team, I don't necessarily think 8-8 should be considered a failure either.

Last 2 or 3 times we played Denver they beat us. My good friend is a huge Denver fan so I have first hand knowledge from all the shit talking I have to listen to when we lose to those jerk jobs.

I would consider 8-8 a shocking success.......

I would be thrilled with 8-8. Especially if we followed it up by re-signing Smith, drafting a playmaker at any position on defense, adding an established 2nd receiver and upgrading the running back...... You know, all the things we could have done with our cap space this year.
