Stats support your position. On 78 dropbacks where Dalton got rid of the ball in 2.5 seconds or less, his NFL passer rating is 87.1 ....on 38 dropbacks where he held the ball 2.6 seconds or longer his rating goes up to 110.0, which is 4th best in the league when he waits a bit longer to unload.....

Telling stat indeed.

It's also notable that Dalton's 28 pass attempts at 2.6 seconds or longer are the least in the league, more evidence he is generally not holding on to the ball long enough. His average time to a sack is 4.06 seconds, more evidence he could hold on pretty safely to let the deeper patterns develop. My interpretation of these stats are that he gets scared in the pocket too easily.

Upon further review, the only quarterbacks who take longer to sack are the mobile guys, Smith, Kaep, Vick, Newton, Luck, Pryor, Manuel, Freeman, Big Ben. Further evidence our line can protect Dalton long enough for these big plays to develop.

Dalton has only 28 pass attempts out of 38 drop backs when he has the ball for 2.6 seconds or longer - and 5 of which are sacks. So on 27% of his drop backs - despite having one of the best pass blocking o-lines in the league - the ball isn't leaving his hands. So maybe it IS a good idea they are getting the ball out of his hands quickly - not sure how much that is Gruden/Marvin and how much that is Dalton being afraid to allow plays to develop. You have to think, given that he gets very antsy in the pocket, the clock in his head is probably telling him to chuck asap every chance he gets.

Furthermore, passer rating in this instance is flawed. 1) Sacks do not count against passer rating, 2) scrambling does not count against passer rating, HOWEVER 3) throw aways OR tight coverage throws DO count against passer rating - something most QB's do, but Dalton doesn't.

Also, the time to sack being amongst the best in the league for pocket passers puts to rest Crash's notion that Dalton's getting the ball out fast is the reason his o-line is ranked amongst the best in pass blocking.

Yeah, that was well explained.

However, I haven't seen WR's getting open lately. Matter of fact, in the last couple weeks, minus a couple plays, it seems no one is getting open very well, including Green.

And that's what makes what they do even better. To your eyes - with nothing to compare it to - it may seem nobody is getting open.

PFF watches EVERY game and the receivers on EVERY team. Their assessments of how well/often players are getting open is relative to EVERY other team in the league.

Our oline is great I guess. But everyone elses is really fucking poor then, because it doesn't seem like Dalton has much time to throw the ball to me.

And that is why you don't work at PFF. Dalton causes a lot of his pressures with his antsy feet and bad pocket awareness.

What sort of grade does Jordan Dalton have for the season? On the one hand, she's smoking hot and she gets points for it. On the other hand, she makes our limp-wristed, ginger qb insecure about his life and that could be impacting his game.

Also, none of Dalton's five sacks have been blamed on an olineman, by either PFF or the coaching staff.

PFF has our o-line ranked 4th in the league in "pass blocking efficiency" behind TB, Denver, and KC.

It was ranked second last year, too. The line is very good. They have even improved their run blocking this year.
