Maybe Dallas can use him to fill in for Murray

Herschel Walker, 53, says he could still play in the NFL - CBSSports.com

The general consensus in the NFL is that once a running back hits the age of 30, his production starts to decline.

Don't tell that to Herschel Walker, though, because that's nonsense to him.

During an interview on Thursday, the former NFL running back said he thinks he could suit up and play in the NFL right now. At age 53.

"There is not a doubt in my mind, if I played today, I (could) contribute to a team," Walker told Boomer & Carton.

Walker seems to think he'd fit right in with today's NFL, where almost every team has some sort of "running back-by-committee."

Herschel is pretty amazing.... He might actually be one guy that possibly could pull it off.... But at 53 he would be aching like crazy after games... He probably wouldn't be healed by the next week...

someone would have to point him in the right direction after he takes a handoff though.

I listened to the interview, he sure has a lot of confidence in himself with regards to anything and everything.

He sucked at 25...and he still thinks he can play at 53?!?

I have better stop and go quickness than his lumbering ass.

One of the most overrated players in the history of the sport. Didn't have the agility to run the ball effectively so the only way to have him get yards was to get the ball to him in the passing game where he could use his straightline speed to out-run the lumbering LB's of the day.

Hershal Walker age 23 would be nothing other than a specialist RB in this day and age. At 53 he's just a old worn out has been.

....and yes I am still bitter.

I listened too and I have to agree with this 100%. Obviously it would be unlikely that anyone could do it, but if someone could...it's Herschel...

not sure if it was in the article, but he said he ran a 4.3 out of the blue last month. Thinks if he trains he could run even better.

Yeah, that didn't happen. There was exactly 1 sub 4.3 40 at this year's combine... a 4.28. But a 53 YO Walker says he ran a 4.3 ? Not a chance.

Oh I know. I wasn't ripping you for quoting him. I know he's still in tremendous shape, but 53 YO is 53 YO and there have only been 5 sub 4.3 NFL times since they started clocking them electronically. My guess is that he'd be a lot closer to 5 than 4.3.
