Single Ride Metrocards aren't the bast fare


And they're not used by 99% of actual NY'ers


Between Huwaryu and myself, we have 40+ years of living in NYC. We can count the number of times we ever bought a single ride metro card on Jim Abbott's right hand

I'll admit it Heat, I "did not get the memo" on the ridiculous base fare surcharge for a single ride card. As far as I knew the base fare was 2.50 because that's all it ever says when I swipe at the turnstile. Touche.

Can't imagine that anyone who works in Manhattan would prefer to only buy single rides on occasion, when you can buy a 10$ card and save a buck right there. They last; go ahead and fork out a ten spot, and keep the card in your wallet next to your Magnums. That extry quarter adds up. Plus, they give you bonus money for buying larger amounts.

The irony is not lost on me that you asked if I was a "real NY'er" because I thought the fare was $2.50 instead of the cost of a single ride ticket.... which is of course mostly just bought by tourists (aka, people who aren't NY'ers)
