Police were called to investigate an incident involving Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel in Fort Worth, Texas, early Saturday.

Fort Worth police said in a statement Saturday that officers were called to an apartment building around 2 a.m. about a possible assault. Police talked to a 23-year-old woman, who was not the caller, who said she had been involved in an incident earlier in the evening with her ex-boyfriend in Dallas. A preliminary investigation determined that a possible assault had occurred, though the woman refused to cooperate with officers and there was no evidence of a crime scene in Fort Worth.

The woman also told officers she was concerned about her ex-boyfriend's welfare. Police officers attempted to locate him, including by helicopter, and later determined that he was safe and not in danger.

Fort Worth police confirmed the man in the report was Manziel. They said they are working with Dallas police to determine if any criminal offenses occurred, which Dallas police confirmed in a statement.

When asked about the incident by ESPN, the Browns said they would have no comment at this time. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told ESPN the league was aware of the incident and "looking into it.''

was questioned by police in October after a domestic incident involving his girlfriend at the time, though it was not immediately clear whether the same woman was involved in this incident.

In the October incident, several witnesses called police after seeing Manziel and a woman arguing in a vehicle. The argument escalated to the point that she tried to leave the car as it exited a highway.

A look at Johnny Manziel's turbulent time with the Browns, going back to being picked in the first round of the 2014 draft.

Both Manziel and the woman admitted to arguing, and Manziel told police they had been drinking earlier in the day. The police officer made the determination that Manziel was not intoxicated and he was not charged. The NFL investigated the incident and announced in November that Manziel would not be disciplined.

It has been a tumultuous few months for the quarterback. Less than a week after being named the Browns' starter in mid-November, a video surfaced online of Manziel holding a bottle at an Austin, Texas, club during the team's bye week. The next day, then-Browns coach Mike Pettine announced that he was demoting Manziel to the third string for the next game.

A little more than a month later, Manziel was ruled out of the team's season finale with a concussion and did not attend the game. Reports surfaced that Manziel had been seen at a casino in Las Vegas that weekend.

Manziel spent 10 weeks in treatment for undisclosed reasons before this past season.

At the time of new Browns coach Hue Jackson's hiring earlier this month, a source close to the situation told ESPN's Dan Graziano that Manziel was discussed at length in meetings between Jackson and Browns ownership. In those discussions, Jackson indicated that if he were to become head coach he would prefer the organization part ways with Manziel, and Jackson was told that would not be a problem. Jackson said earlier this week that he had not talked to Manziel yet.

If the Browns want to release Manziel, the earliest they can do so is Feb. 8, the day after the Super Bowl, when the NFL's waiver system begins. Teams can't make trades until the new league year begins March 9.

Just more gas on the fire to keep the shit storm rolling around him.

I really hope Jerry is served a copy of this with his coffee this morning. Maybe another dose of this kid is a train wreck can finally put to bed the notion that JFF is a football player worth taking a chance on. He is a walking disaster and even the Cowboys cant absorb that much BS.

Get your life in order Johnny before you end up broke or dead or both.

I wonder, outside of Jerry, is there another owner who wants this guy? I haven't heard him rumored for anyone but Dallas. He will have to play cheap for someone, nobody is giving him a long term deal...well, almost....

Jerry: 'we have a support system in place'; 'I believe in second chances'; 'we did our due diligence and he was honest about his transgressions'; 'blah, blah, blah'

I like the potential of manziel as a player. he probably won't get another chance. he would be worse for the team than hardy was. the kid needs to be on house arrest for a year and stay clean before he gets a chane

Report: Johnny Manziel, friends trash $4.5M house, do $32K in damages

By Ryan Wilson | CBSSports.com

April 15, 2016 10:39 am ET

Johnny Manziel's agent (for now) Drew Rosenhaus says the former NFL quarterback is back in Texas after spending time in Los Angeles earlier this month. And that's probably best for everyone involved.

Manziel desperately needs to get his life in order, at least according to those close to him, and that probably wasn't going to happen in L.A. The New York Post's Emily Smith reports that Manziel and a friend rented a house in West Hollywood last week, promptly threw "two all-night ragers" and when it was over, "allegedly caused $32,000 in damage" to the $4.5 million property.

Then there's this:

It's claimed Manziel and his group left the house strewn with booze and drugs, broke an expensive glass table and a bathroom door, and left wine stains and cigarette burns on carpets.
Nicholas Goodwin, who works for LA Exotic Life, rented the house to Manziel and Goodwin's attorney, Niki Ghazian, has already written a letter to the quarterback's representatives.

“Mr. Manziel threw large parties on both nights, causing extensive damage ... Evidence suggests [Manziel] and his guests were consuming drugs and alcohol ... and that they caused a disturbance to the neighborhood."

The Los Angeles Police Department was called on April 6, according to Ghazian.

There's more and it's not great.

Goodwin tells Page Six he returned to the house to find it trashed and Manziel crashed on the sofa at 2 p.m. He said, “They were supposed to check out at noon. Manziel was passed out ... There was cocaine all over the kitchen table, and mushrooms were still out on the table in front of him. There was booze everywhere ... broken glasses over the floor and a Champagne glass in a tree.” He added, “If they don't respond to our demand for compensation, we will sue.” Manziel, his lawyers, and [agent] DrewRosenhaus didn't get back to us.
Meanwhile, Rosenhaus told PFT Live on Friday that he's worried that he and Manziel aren't "on the same page" about what the quarterback needs to do to get his life together.

“Unfortunately there hasn't been any movement toward getting help or seeking treatment that I'm aware of. I'm trying diligently to recommend this to Johnny. I'm not the first one, certainly not the only one. There are a lot of friends and family and people that want the best for this young man. He's got a plan, it's just different than the one he and I talked about and what I would recommend to him.”

Rosenhaus and Manziel have different ideas of what staying on track means. Rosenhaus isn't alone, either; Manziel's father said in February that his son won't live to see 24 if he doesn't get help.

Earlier this month, Manziel was spotted early one morning outside Le Jardin in Hollywood. He told TMZ that he had "been staying on track," adding: “The L.A. party scene is alright. I'm not really partying, though. I'm just out with some buddies. No drinking. Hanging with the boys, man. ... I'm out at the spots. I'm eating good food. Not doing anything crazy though, being smart. ... I'm not always partying. I'm just out having a good time with my boys and not drinking.”

It's fair to wonder if Johnny Manziel will ever play in the NFL again.

He is a sad case. He needs to forget about football and the spotlight and focus on his life.

Sad case? Come on guys! We are talking about a spoiled brat who has literally had the world handed to him, and despite that Manziel is doing his very best to piss it all away. I have zero sympathy for this kid. I hope he gets his life together, don't want to see anyone end up in the gutter - although I'm pretty certain that will never happen with his family behind him.

Honestly, I would like to see Johnny Football get permabanned from football. Just to remind everyone that getting to play professional sports is a privilege, and you don't always get second chances. This guy doesn't deserve one any time soon.
