hockeyjerseyconcepts blog is saying they've heard that the pens may rock the ever popular sunday yellows. i own a lemieux one, and personally i love them, but i REALLY want the black diagonals...

Just don't wear those damn pink one's they have in most cities. I hate those things !! Some of the females wear them and I hate them.

they aren't very popular in pittsburgh (save the very young girls), and i commend that. i hate them too, but even my girliest friends wear the black and gold, NOT the pink. i HATE those...travesty. apparently though the pens are keeping the powder blues (which i'm really just sick of now...) as our 3rd jersey and then getting the new jersey for JUST the winter classic, and maybe as the new 3rd jersey for the 2011-12 season.

Oh, I beg to differ.....

If you go down to the strip on a game day at least a third of the girls wearing jerseys have the pink ones. It is 2/3 for the Steelers though.

steelers is different because there are FAR more 'bandwagoners' and all of that. pens games i think you'll see one or two.

obviously you are a knowledgeable fan, and i know a couple other girls that are, one chick i know is crazy intense.. but what do you think of the extra-ordinary amount of female fans than know nothing, aside from crosby's number (or the 'die-hards' that go for letang instead cause he's just too damn cute), that follow your team?

and i'd agree w/ 46.. ive see quite a few people, and know quite a few owners, of pink pens gear.. although i am glad you find that proposterous.. rep point for that

i was reading that going...is this for me?? hahahah. i see that all the time...in fact, because i know SO MANY girls that aren't knowledgable, i assume it as my mission to FIX that. i've already made some 'converts', but the bigger mission is to educate the casual fans. i realize that not every girl is willing to be as...well, obsessed, as i am. that takes a long time and committment to learn from others who know more than me. i do teach many of my friends the game, rules, players names, etc. i admit to using the 'hotness factor' to draw them in, but then i seal the deal by showing them the awesomeness that is hockey. i normally bring them to a game (only done this a with a few...it's expensive!) because that will lead to the obsession much quicker.

i do think that the fact that the pens are a young, successful, good looking squad has helped to facilitate the female following, however that is also a very pittsburgh thing. pittsburgh females are much more into sports than say...new york females. it's part of our upbringing...however, what STARTED as a mere interest because everyone else is, or because sid's hot, has become a real fan-ship. and also, the pens fan base is MUCH younger than most. the core of the following is 20-somethings that have been fans since jagr, and normally the boyfriends bring their girlfriends, and BAM new fan.
