Ah well, We knew this was coming soon anyway. Sad to see him go, hope he leaves with his health intact.

He's always been one of my favorites.

Happy trails Heath.

Yes, and no...I'm not shocked, but more than a little surprised...I thought '17 would be it...a TRUE STEELER...glad to see him walk away on his terms.

It's like a domino effect. Everyone is retiring. He had a great career.

I really expected one more year. Damn. I'd have to rank him the best tight end the Steelers have had since the Super Bowl era. Although Eric Green was great for a few years, didn't have the longevity and sustained success that Heath did. I'm probably missing someone else completely, and will have to facepalm later, though.

Sad to see him go... But glad he does on his own terms, and not forced out the door. I expected 1 more season so its definitely a shocker. He had nothing to prove so I understand walking away on the cusp of another SuperBowl run.

Steeler Nation will miss you Heath!

In terms of the complete package, reliable catching and blocking, longevity...clear cut imo...best ever in team history.

Was a workhorse when we didn't have many who could catch the ball, and once we finally did get a few extra guys to catch the ball, he could block with the best of them. Great guy, great player, going to be missed big time.

I agree, clear cut best TE in team history and it's not close. IMO in the top 5 best revievers in team history. I know today's passing stats are inflated compared to yesteryear but he's 2nd only to Hines in several Steeler recieving catagories.

Yep...one thing sticks out recently was his quiet leadership...that goes under the radar...I forget the game, but AB was hot about something and was steaming on the side lines and Heath got into him...I'm sure out of respect for who was chastising him, AB stood down immediately. (want to say he was bent out of shape at Landry throw a bad ball or something).

They will find somebody that can block and catch passes, but that part is gone with Heath.
