They better EXECUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If this is how they will start the game then look for Nelson and Clements to be back there with Newman, Hall and Allen as the top 3 corners...When they go 4/5 wide then Pacman comes on the field.....This way if they no huddle into a run Clements will help in the run defense...but can still cover in pass defense much much better than Mays....

In no huddle WE NEED TO GET PASS RUSH!!!!!!!!! Hit em get a sack or 2 and they will come out of it.....

I picked us to win in pick'em...

that will make up for my blockbuster dallas pick

I'm looking for Andrew Hawkins to have a break out game... watch them sit him and put binns in the slot now.

Has Newman won a starting job? If so, we're in even deeper shit than I thought.

Back to the thread subject, if Joe Flacco is successful in the no huddle all the time, then every damned team should go to it. Flacco just doesn't impress me as being quick witted enough to make this work. Cannon arm, cannon brain.....

Dalton, on the other hand, would seem to be perfect for the no huddle....therefore we will never go to it....

In the no-huddle the mental aspect of the game can actually be easier for the QB. Defenses can't make substitutions and play a lot of base looks. it sets up easy reads for the QB.

I don't expect a Manning-level mastery of the no-huddle, but I think Flacco will be competent.

If that is true, then every team should run no huddle all the time.....yet relatively few teams do......the only thing I can think of is many OCs just don't want to give the power of playcalling to the QB.....and that's where I just wouldn't trust Flacco.....

Part of it is giving more power to QB's than they can handle or than the OC would like to relinquish. The no-huddle also reduces the number of offensive plays that can be run with as a result a limited number of options as you cannot sub in and out either. It also makes the offense one dimensional as the team will be passing more and rushing less, as well easier eventually diagnosed by the defense. It also speeds up the tempo of the game, so if you're using it and the opposing team isn't, your defense will be spending a lot of time on the field.

The no-huddle is good in spurts, not all the time unless you have an elite QB and very good receivers.

The quarterback doesn't need to call the play in the no-huddle. He can still get the play from the coordinator and pass it on to the team..... I would imagine this is how 'most' teams run the no-huddle, with the exception of times when they are in a hurry-up due to last minute situations. Even if Flacco is in the no huddle, I'm sure Cam will be calling the plays.

Rey points out the reason why a lot of teams, including the Bengals, don't use the no-huddle very much anymore. Marvin got tired of the one-dimensional nature of Brat's no-huddle and the pressure it started putting on a bad defense. That's why he backed off of it in 2009 and played a lot of run/field position type of offense.

every team should do it every once in awhile as a change of pace. Often teams struggle for an entire half to score, and then when the 2 minute drill starts, they march right down the field and score.

I think that has a lot to do with the defense. Too many coordinators get worried about the big play in the last 2 minutes and stop running the D that worked the entire half. But I get your point -- Sometimes its better to spread it out a bit and shake it up rather than give it to the running back twice and throwing a check down on third down.
