Nobody is giving up 2 #1 picks for a QB not named Rodgers especially when the team making the trade might be holding top 5 picks in both drafts. Beyond that any sort of trade like this might cause a Redskins fan revolt. Would you be happy if the team basically just told you to wait until 2019 before the team really had a chance?
[

Never say never we gave up three and a 2nd for Griffin. I do think you are right though. I don't see anyone giving up #1 picks.

They could get lucky & find a Wilson or a Prescott to contribute rt away. However - those are way more the exceptions than the rule. It sounds like several folks here don't believe that he Skins will keep Cousins around for a while. Everyone is buying the media hype on this one. I believe more than ever that they are going to get this done & Cousins will be on the Redskins for a long time.

I think a lot of QBs get drafted into much worse situations than the one we could provide though. Im not saying we should draft a QB or that doing so couldnt set us back but I just dont see it as a lock to set us back.

I think Cousins will be back too, but I do think that Kirk wants to feel he really belongs and that SM isnt as big a fan of Kirk as a lot of the actual fans are so we'll see. But overall I do expect him back.

I would like a quick response from you guys about what is a fair offer that Kirk would take?

The franchise tag is $24million

The average % of the cap that is generally paid to QB's is 13% or $22million this year (rounded up)

I really like that offer, it seems OK, however, do you believe that Kirk and his reps won't counter with at minimum the transition tag number ($24Million) as an annual salary with likely $60-$65 million guaranteed?

I think Cousins rep is going to counter with a deal equal to or better than Luck's. That is how it goes in sports. Then in 5 years he will look like he is getting relative chump change. It is the going rate, not just what you think he is worth.

What I think he's worth is not relevant, my concern has more to do with their inability to come to terms last year because I believe that although the team offered $16 million....Kirk and his reps likely countered with what was then the going tag rate. If anyone is not concerned about the growing likelihood of this same thing playing out again, they are fooling themselves.

Exactly Sty, it isn't what we think he is worth it is what the market will bare and the bear is Scot, Bruce and Dan. I don't know what they think is fair or what they want to do. My guess is he gets tagged again. You would have to think if they tag him they are saying we will keep you one more year but probably not after that. I really have no idea what they plan on doing. Should be interesting.

Absolutely agree...we will see, but unless someone in our4 FO actually believes that this team can get a replacement in the fold soon or maybe Nate Sudfield is "that guy" our team reps seem to continually want to take a wait and see attitude about almost everything. This ain't DC PTSD, it's what we have all unfortunately become accustomed to.

Maybe the FO has good plans but it hard to not remember the 15 years previous to that.

LOL .... Dan the Man has been here since 99 so I gave them 2 years off for good behavior. :D I might have missed a toe when I was counting.

I saw Dan as an escalation of the dysfunction actually. Gibbs left, JKC went a little mental, and his son decided I would rather just sell the team and blow a few million quietly in retreat. And from there we looked like a used corn loaf circling the drain after Thanksgiving dinner.

Indeed, we have mostly sucked since Gibbs left. Cooke the son wanted to buy the team but Daddy didn't leave him enough money. There was a buyer before Danny (Dan was going to be a minority partner) but the league cut that guy off. THEN they let 30 something Dan buy the team.

How ever it went down, I still blame Jon Mara.
