started 0-3 have ever made the playoffs. Don't know if that's true but if it is......

Boston
Carolina
Pittsburgh
New Jersey
Columbus
Edmonton
LA

Should all reserve their green times now.

i find that to be such a trivial statistic.

0-13, sure.

0-3? did they say over all the prior scoring formats and alignments?

I like to use American Thanksgiving as the bellwether - With few exceptions, the teams occupying playoff positions on that date will be the same ones competing for Lord Stanley's mug.

Edit: Of course, for the Oilers, you can use Canadian Thanksgiving.

Me too, especially considering when I first started watching hockey 16 of 21 teams made the playoffs.
As soon as I get a chance I'm going to do some research and prove it wrong. Probably over the Christmas break.

I'm pretty sure it's not even true for the NFL where every game means 5 times as much and fewer teams make the post-season.

If y'all notice I'm in Suckeyeville aka Columbus. The boys on that morning show are pretty Homer like about the Bluejackets.....so a part of me wonders if they really pulled that stat out of their ass, since they usually put cake frosting on even the worst moments of the Jackets.
I find it hard to swallow too.

I can get at some stats online, but that one eludes me. Perhaps one of you have a better access to crazy stats like that.

ShrpSports will give you standings on a specific date. You can get the 0-3 teams pretty quickly that way and then you just have to cross reference the list of playoff teams for that year. That's not a lightning fast one step technique, but it shouldn't take too too long. I'll fuck around with it a bit myself but not until after the weekend probably. I don't think there's anything on hockeyreference that's faster.

Plus: Those buffoons were talking hockey.
Minus: Those buffoons were trying to talk hockey.

Have they suggested we put in Ron Tugnutt yet? Just curious.

It's starting to look like some teams (ahem, OILERS!!, cough) will still be winless at the X-mas break so this might be very apropos.

Well, sure when you go back THAT far...

Different league, different time. Games weren't even in color.

I know, right?

I remember the Ducks 4th game. Foster Hewitt was on the radio, their opponent was the Montreal Maroons. Georges Vezina had a rare bad game and gave up a couple softies in the first. He claimed afterwards that the lighting was poor in the rink, but we all know he had consumed too many brown pops on the train in from MTL.
