Man I'm worried about that game. If Seattle racks up as many penalties as they did this week it's going to be a long one.

SF racked up quite a few penalties as well.

If both teams keep it up we could be looking at a 5 hour game next week.

We had it way tougher than SF for the opening game having to travel 3000 miles east and early start time. Not thrilled with this game, but most were calling this a lock of an upset and Carolina was going to beat us.

Fail on that one. Good!!!

We're back at the Clink in primetime on Sunday. Should be an excellent game.

Neither team really had it easy.

I mean I'll take facing Newton and Carolina's offense even on the road at 10am a million times over than facing Rodgers and the Packers offense.

Yep. We have two teams that are both legitimate SB contenders and are division rivals to boot. Furthermore, the coaches hate each other. Yep, there will be penalties.

True... But at least you guy's were at home which helped... Playing in Green Bay would a been a bigger challenge... Green Bay isn't a very good defense though especially vs the pass..

I am not expecting a win come Sun night, I am hoping for a close injury free game however. We just need to split the series with you guys and take care of business on our side.

Always nice to hear from a fan that doesn't feel the need to degrade their opponent. It should be a slug fest. Hopefully no major injuries for either team.

I'm hoping for at least a few returns from injury next week for the Hawks. In particular, Avril would be a big boost to our pass rush and while corner is a deep position for us, I wouldn't want to test it any more than necessary, so having Browner back next week would be a help too. I'm not expecting Clemons quite yet, though it's a fun thought to consider.

The thing that worries me about next week's game is the offensive line play that I saw today. Granted, Carolina has one of the better front-7's in the league, but San Francisco has a better offense than Carolina does and if the Seahawks are constantly leaving the Niners with good field position, they're gonna get more than 7 points out of it. They couldn't open any holes for the running backs today and Wilson was running for his life and/or forcing throws more often than I would prefer and San Francisco is good enough to take advantage of that. It just has to be better.

Tough game in Carolina, but it was plenty of good reps to get the kinks out. Still got the W. Every W makes the path to the SB easier.

SF will be facing one of the best, most physical D's in the league on Sunday night, in one of the loudest, hostile environments in football. Davis and Boldin will not be getting the same gimmies GB gave them all day long. They will be fighting for every catch.

I could be wrong but I think the Vegas oddsmakers automatically spot the home team 3 points as part of their formula so they essentially have us neck and neck.

Yep. The spread may move a point or more in either teams favor this week, but will probably stay -3 to -4 going into sunday. Vegas is basically saying it's a push given the home field with that spread. Two of the top teams in the league going at it.

I know that when the spread starts fluctuating it's due to the way people are betting.
The #1 rule in a casino is "The House Never Loses."
Casino sports books will make money every single game if they get people to bet evenly on both teams. They keep all the losing bets and keep a percentage of the winning bets so they can't lose if the same amount of people bet on each team. If one team is getting more bets than the other they'll adjust the spread to get people to bet the other way.
Always be wary of the spread. It isn't always who they think will win, it's a device they use to get people to bet the way they want so the casino can profit.

Gonna be a close game I think. Colin didn't really need the run to get things going, which he did last year - hence why Seattle dominated that game. Gore actually had a bad game (for Gore).

Seattle's secondary is hands down better than Green Bay (that little push from Boldin would never work on Sherman/Browner) but I'd put the pass rushes on par. Hard to gauge Seattle since Avril/Clemons/Browner will all be back. 49ers were basically playing at full strength Sunday.

I think we're gonna see a 28-24 or 24-17 type game. I'll go with Seattle solely considering homefield advantage.

GB was great against the run altogether, not just the ZR. But they sold out in order to do so by keeping their base 3-4 on the field against multiple receiver sets and keeping an extra safety in the box. Boldin was tearing the up from the slot because of this.

I would rather be facing the Packers Defense at the Clink before taking on the Panthers Defense on the road @10am for the 1st game of the season. Panthers were a top 10 Defense last season that only got better, GB's defense got worse and "overachieved last year" lets not forget that they ( Packers ) were on the ROAD. No Comparison. Packers scored all of 1 TD against Seattle last season when they were in my eyes a better offensive team than they are now. How many TD did they score on that vaunted 49ers D?

this time of year Offenses should not be putting up 30-40 points in a game. That is an aberration not the norm. It says more about a teams "defense" than their Offense at this time of the year.

Carolina's defense is better than Green Bay's, but Green Bay's offense is a lot better than Carolina's. I think the 49ers have a real uphill battle to get a win in Seattle, but I will say this -- I think Kaepernick is improving all the time and he may be reaching the point where he is capable of winning in Seattle by dominating a game by himself. I wouldn't be surprised if that happens.

Playing Carolina wasn't as difficult as playing a talented Packer team who's only desire in life was to prove they could beat the Niners, finally.
