They totally shut out the Vikes in the 2nd half. P. Smith a huge day. Gruden has me confused again. Does he even trust KC?

In what sense are you questioning the trust of Gruden for KC?

I thought he should of out the game in his hands at the end. He ran twice and thrown once. I thin he was afraid of the pick and relied on the defense. If we somehow lost this game it would of have been questioned.

If you are referring to the Dallas game in week 2 that is exactly my point. It was basically the same situation and KC threw the huge INT. My question is, is there a trust factor at the end of the game b/c of the result of the Dallas game? Running on 2nd down didn't make sense to me. I know they wanted to keep the clock moving but a first down or TD would of ended the game. I think it was 2nd and 6.

No, I don't think their is a trust issue.

lol. skinsdad you do realize that our defense is responsible for 4 out of our 5 wins this year. It worked b/c the defense shut them down. We are going to make KC one of the highest paid QB's in the NFL, don't you think we should allow him to WIN the game in that situation?

I think dean has a valid, if not 100% correct point far as a trust issue goes. Yeah, the Skins won the game and that's all good. But today's game did nothing to ease concerns about the Skins play in the RZ. Before today, the Skins were 13/32 in the RZ and are now 14/36. I don't know where its at, but somewhere in that statement there's something that says, that's not a top dollar QB money stat.

Maybe they weren't testing Kirk. Maybe they were testing the defense. Either way, I don't think the answer to signing Kirk long term became any clearer today than it was yesterday.

I think we need to sign KC long term. I just want Gruden to let KC win the game. I think the Dallas game really got to him.

Got to who? Kirk or Gruden? Regardless, something tells me KC's gonna get a few opportunities before the season ends to win some games with his arm. IMO we're gonna be in dog-fights every week. And in one or two of em, the Skins are gonna be the team that's got the ball last and needs a TD to win.

KC has his issues, especially when it comes to the long ball. But in the Minnesota game, the RZ issues had nothing to do with KC's performance. There was no one open. Ever. Our play calling is just not very creative in the RZ.
Dean questions if we should have run on second down or attempt a pass into the end zone for the win. The reality is that the clock at this point is just as much of a competitor as the Vikings were. We had been gashing them pretty good on the ground. So it makes sense to me that we would continue to pound it and eat up as much time as possible. Except for the 2nd Qtr, our defense owned Minnesota's offense. We appeared to adjust to the issues we had in the 2nd qtr so our play calling was pretty conventional on our last drive. Again, I don't see any evidence of a trust issue. BTW, Gruden isn't even calling the plays, McVay is. So if there is a trust issue, it would be with the OC.

Gruden. They are very conservative in the rz yesterday.

Raise you hand if you felt confident kicking off only up 6 with over 3 minutes left.. Raise both hands after the Vikes got to our 20. I would have liked to see them win the game on offense rather than settle for a FG and rely on a questionable defense.

All year as we watched team after team move it at will in those situations I kept asking for a sack, we would have 2 more wins with 2 more sacks. Finally we got them but it clearly could have gone the other way.

I guess that most folks forgot when this team was 0-2 & the defense was giving up tons of pts and yds. Many folks (myself included) were also doubting Cousins.

This team has come a long way since this time - 5-1-1 & could easily be 7-0 since that time. Are they perfect? Absolutely not, but they are heading in the rt direction. The defense certainly had issues in the 2nd QTR but did a great job rebounding after that time. The combo of Kerrigan, Smith, Murphy & Cravens gives them a lot of hope in the pass rush area.

Cousins is playing as well as ever in spite of some of the posts I am reading here. One very positive note - he really has not thrown 1 INT in the last 3 games (the Bengals one was just a throw away & more like a punt). That is a very good sign. I have no doubt that his long term extension is as good as done now, and they don't have to convince us - just their FO and Gruden.

As one poster here always likes to say "It is a good time to be a Redskins fan". HTTR
