The preseason is quite irrelevant. I think Thurmond will be more missed than Brandon Browner.

Browner only played 8 games last year, and really struggled against quicker WRs in those 8 games. Not to mention, he will be suspended for the first 4 games of 2014.

Thurmond was the bigger of the two losses IMO. He played nickel extremely well and whenever he started at CB he always looked like he had starting CB potential. That being said, Thurmond was practically made of glass and is never a safe bet to play the entire season, especially if he's going to playing every down.

I'm comfortable with the CBs the Seahawks have right now, it's clearly not as deep without Thurmond or Browner, but it's still one of the best group of CBs in the NFL.

Byron Maxwell played exceptionally well once he became the starter, Richard Sherman is the best CB in the NFL, the Seahawks like Tharold Simon a lot and Jeremy Lane is a solid nickel CB. I honestly feel extremely comfortable with this 1-4 at CB. Obviously if any of those guys go down it'll be a problem, but what team has a #5 CB who is a future starter?

Don't forget, we traded a future 6th for a CB right at the 53 cut down. Maybe he can help if need be.

Also, relax. We have come a long way since the day we had to field all of those no name CB's during a Holmgren era playoff run.

Our fairly banged up group of corners just held Aaron Rodgers, maybe the best QB in the league not named Manning, to 189 yards passing on 33 attempts. Factor in that they never even looked in Sherman's direction all night and that's pretty damn impressive. Carroll is a cornerback guru, so while it would be great if we had our best guys out there for every game, I'm not that concerned that we're missing a couple guys we'd normally have. I think last night's game is also proof that the Raiders preseason game was a fluke.

I know it gets old hearing that injuries are a part of the game, but they truly are.

Name a SB winner that didn't have to overcome missing starters. Even last year, there was a ton of Chicken Little talk surrounding the Seahawks offensive line injuries.

When did we miss them? I'm sure it was LBs and Richard Sherman who were getting carved apart out there. Burley actually played a decent game, and Thomas was bad when he got in there. Having Thurmond or Browner out there would have made 0 difference today.

Kam was on him quite a bit. The point is that both of the guys that were guarding him are easily top 10 (one of them is #1) and he git his because he's Antonio Gates and he's one of the best ever. If he's on then he's going to get his no matter who's on him.
