Bobby Mac is tweeting that the MTL job is down to Michel Therrien or Marc Crawford...

While I was not thrilled with the prospect of Hartley I did prefer him to those two.

I think I would prefer Crawford to Therrien, but that's just me...

Hartley signed a three year deal to coach the Flames, by the way - No word if a NTC was included.

I'm actually quite surprised that Therrien hasn't found work for a few years now.

Hartley is godfather to one of Feasters sons ... they call him Uncle Bob in the Feaster household

best man for the job? or best friend of the gm?

As the old saying goes, it's not what you know, it's who you know...

does that worry you a bit Dash? at least he has experience (decent in the NHL) and I dont really count his Stanley Cup with Colorado as a MASSIVE achievement, that team was one of the best teams to lace up skates that Bruce Cassidy or even Rick Bowness could have gotten a Ring.

I think all you can do is take a wait-and-see attitude matty, he won a division title in Atlanta as well as the Cup in Colorado, and he's been a winner everywhere he has coached. He wasn't my choice for next head coach, but I'm a nobody who just likes to chat about hockey.

awkward firing down the road (could be long way down the road,of course).
I think he was the best coach available, fwiw. Surprised he didn't go to the Habs.

From Elliotte Friedman:

Sakic loves Hartley, had tremendous respect for his coaching style and was always one of his biggest fans

That's nice to hear...
