It would definitely be in our best interest to finish 6th for round 1, but then round 2 is tougher. Would we rather face Florida then New York instead of Pittsburgh then Boston? It will get extremely tough at some point no matter how you slice it. I say just get healthy, clinch a spot and get hot late (in that order). If that means we take 4th, 5th or even 7th instead of 6th, so be it. I'm fine with that. Either way, it is nice to be 9 points up on Winnipeg with two games in hand. We definitely don't want 8th.

I feel like we're most likely going to settle into 4th or 5th. If we're healthy and Bryz is on his game, we can beat the Pens though, even with Crosby in the mix. Last season, we took the series 4-1-1 with 3 of those wins against Crosby. This season we're 2-1 so far and I feel we have a better team this year with more depth at every position.

I dont know why you say we definatley dont want to finish 8th. The rags have looked very ordinary since the break and are starting to have some injuries themselves. Almost every win they had in the last 9 games have been in OT or a shootout. Granted i dont want to finish 8th just because i want to finish higher not because i dont want to play the Rags matter of fact i just went to go see the devils destroy them tuesday night. Also Lundquist gets very average in the playoffs.

They may be high on him, but they wouldn't bring him up in this game given all the other injuries and how important 2 points are unless someone was hurt. If they go with 7 d-men, then maybe. But having 2 rookie d-men and Lilja seems like overkill in that 3rd pairing.
BOurdon and Bartulis both have concussions. Walker is too expensive to bring up due to GUst and Wellwood already being up. Marshall was traded. Manning was the 6th defensman in the AHL not too long ago...
