Maybe Odorizzi's price just went way down after his performance last night.

Hitzges and team were discussing the Rangers, and how much this team epitomizes the old saying of "the sum of this team is better than it's individual parts." He wasn't saying we aren't really good, just pointing out how much of a "team first concept" this franchise lives by.

These guys seem to really like each other, feed off one another, and are pretty darn hard to beat. And hopefully with Yu and Kela coming back after the AS break, we'll be considerable better.

Rangers' Michael Roth: Designated for assignment Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Roth was designated for assignment Tuesday.

Roth, who had his contract selected by Texas on Sunday, was tagged for six earned runs over 3.2 innings in Monday's outing against Boston. The Rangers recalled 22-year-old righty Jose Leclerc in a corresponding move. Roth will now be subject to waivers, but if he goes unclaimed, the Rangers plan to option him to Triple-A Round Rock.

C.J. Wilson to undergo shoulder surgery, likely ending his Angels career
Wilson, who has not pitched at all this season due to shoulder trouble, is in the final year of his five-year, $75 million contract

The Angels beat up on the Rays Tuesday night (LAA 13, TB 5), but overall, they are in the middle of an extremely disappointing season. The Halos are in last place in the AL West at 34-50, 11 1/2 games out of a postseason spot. That's with yet another superhuman season by Mike Trout.

On Tuesday, the Angels announced left-hander C.J. Wilson will undergo shoulder surgery, which will end his season. Here is the club's announcement:

"C.J. Wilson will undergo shoulder surgery to address fraying on the labrum and rotator cuff. Surgery is tentatively scheduled for next week in Los Angeles, with Dr. Neal ElAttrache handling the procedure."
Wilson had not pitched at all this season -- not even in spring training -- due to ongoing shoulder trouble. He last pitched in a big-league game on July 28 of last season. Elbow surgery ended his 2015 season early as well.

This is the final season of the five-year, $75 million contract Wilson signed with the Angels during the 2011-12 offseason. They signed him away from the division-rival Rangers in an offseason where Wilson and Albert Pujols were the club's two big additions.

Over the life of that five-year contract, Wilson went 51-35 with a 3.87 ERA (98 ERA+) in 119 starts and 722 1/3 innings. Years 1 and 2 went well enough. Everything went south in the third year and beyond. Wilson accumulated 5.2 WAR with the Halos.

There's no doubt the shoulder surgery hurts Wilson's free agent stock. He's firmly in "reclamation project" territory now. The fact he is left-handed will work in his favor because hey, teams always need more southpaws.

Wilson's five-year contract definitely did not work out the way the Angels hoped. That won't stop some team from giving him a chance to show he's healthy and can contribute in 2017.

The Angels in their last 8 games have outscored their opponents 53-47 and yet they are 2-6. So much for run differential.

CJ is 35 and should think very hard of retiring. Do commercials for Head and Shoulders? Ha. I know, as they all do, wants to come back next year.

That's held up by two games a 13-5 win versus the Rays, and more especially a 21-2 win over Boston, so in the 2 wins its +27, in the 6 losses its -21

I'm really loving what Tolleson has done to right the ship. Since May ended he has 11 appearances for 13 innings and allowed 1 ER. 11k/3BB and 8 hits. Averaging 15 pitches an inning.

Really hope that what was ailing him is gone and we can get him back and trustworthy down the stretch. Would love to see him slotted into the 8th inning guy and let Diekman go about as our rally killer or shut down specialist.

He took the medical leave to be with his father who had a set back in his cancer treatments. Tolleson made no excuses but I'm sure his father's illness worried him. The 7 days off to be with his father probably helped him reconnect.

Saw just the first 3 innings but on the way home was listening to Nadel and he was not too happy with Joe West. He said with the strike zone Joe West has and facing a team like the Red Sox it was miraculous that they did not score more. He said West was not calling the edges at all. But I did not see it so I am taking his word for it.

Nadel was accurate in his assessment of Joe West. He was inconsistently bad.

I knew the 21-2 game was in there but not the other score. That is why at times I put little thought in how we rank in runs scored. We have had seasons where we make rank in the top half but have so many games where we would just scratch and claw for some runs and then have games where we went crazy. I liked that roll we were on a few weeks ago where we were consistently scoring 5 runs or more 80% of the time.

He has been a different pitcher since then. There are other guys who scare me more when they're coming into the game. Mainly Barnette and used to be willy.

I didnt watch much of this one, but I did see a few AB's late and he called 2 pitches in the same AB that were in the exact same spot, a ball once and a strike 1-2 pitches later. Unbelievable the strike zone was different in the same AB. :trash:

And this guy is the epitome of what's wrong with the umpiring in ML baseball. Joe thinks he's part of the show.

There are always going to be the ones on the corners that are 50/50 but I didn't notice anything egregious within the zone, but then again I wasn't paying real close attention all the time

But I've seen way worse recently
