I'm sure many of you remember the flack I took on here last year for begging the team not to bring back Ted Ginn. I said that he was not good enough value, even at league minimum, to justify a roster spot.

I was called many names, and was told that Ginn's value as a returner and his presence as a "deep threat" made him well worth the investment.

I'd just like to let you know that the fare to get on the "Get Ted Ginn the fuck off the 49ers" bandwagon is $10 in vcash, payable directly to me.

I'd give you the 750 I have, just for being wrong about Ginn being a good returner still.

Ginn has certainly regressed since last season. Just like Akers. I'm not sure I'm giving up on Ginn yet, but I'm done with Akers.

Unfortunately, he's still the best punt returner on the team. James looked bad returning punts in the preseason.

I was right there with you imac. Even after the NFC Championship I was saying to get rid of him and have Williams take on the return duties.

I wanted to go back to this.

Since a little slump Ginn had, I think he's done a pretty good job. Despite the penalty, he had a great return & showed that he still has nasty burst. And he hasn't bobbled anything since that rough game he had a long time ago.

Ginn is still the best punt returner the Niners have had since Deion Sanders, and I would probably want him back next year.

No. I want absolutely nothing to do with Ginn back. We have plenty of guys on the roster who can return punts that can actually contribute on the field.

James can do it. Cox. Williams. Maybe even a FA acquisition or a draftee.

I want nothing to do with Ginn.

Did you watch James on punt returns in the preseason? There's a reason he's not back there.

Ginn has more sure hands, and he accelerates more quickly than James. RBs make better kickoff guys than punt-return guys.

Cox? hen has he shown to be even an average NFL punt returner?

Williams? The same Williams the 49ers decided not to put out there returning punts this year? That wouldn't be the end of the world, but Ginn is a better punt returner IMO (and I the Niners' O).

Jesus. You're acting like Ginn is setting the league ablaze as a punt returner. How much worse will ANY of these guys be than Ginn? Is that difference negated by what we can bring in to take over Ginn's spot on offense?

The guy is literally useless as a WR.

I agree he's useless as a receiver. But punt returner is more important than #4 WR.

I'm acting like Ginn is still in the top half of the league in terms of punt returners. That's a hell of a lot better than bottom 10 to which the Niners have been used since 1995.

Maybe. IF the punt returner is Devin Hester.

Ginn at this point isn't even close. He's bordering on being an average PR. I don't wanna sacrifice a spot on the offense for an average PR that's prone to making stupid mistakes.

So a guy who tpuches the ball 36 times in a season (like Ginn) and could possibly fumble & single-handedly lose the game on any one of those plays is less important than a 4th receiver on a team who runs a lot & plays with 2 TEs on the field more than almost anyone else?

By the way, Ginn's return average was 10th out of 32 this year. You're complaining about that?

Ginn definitely makes a shit ton of stupid mistakes.

Holy shit. Remember Brandon Williams(?, the Wisconsin WR who was drafted before Brandon Marshall). That was unwatchable.
