Apparently was making some huge contract demands as a RFA. I think this make Mason the leading candidate for the Flyers.

What the fuck .....
Was management in Montreal hanging out with Superflyer all day?
I am not looking forward to facing Halak 6 times in the regular season next year.

Very odd. I'd love to hear what the contract demands were from Halak. After just the regular season I wouldnt have minded or been shocked. After the post season though I am very surprised and shocked.

interesting...that's for sure.

In fairness to Montreal. Eller is a solid prospect. Schultz on the other hand is a future grinder at best.

I think the Habs just wanted someone from Denmark on the team.

As for the no contact from the Habs, Halak stated he was going to get away for a few weeks with no talks after the season. I have to think they had an idea that his contract demands were going to be huge.

Isn't Allen Walsh Halak's agent (the guy who was basically tweeting throughout the playoffs that Halak is the next coming of Ken Dryden and Price stinks?). I wonder if things got so acrimonious between the two parties that Montreal simply said enough is enough.

maybe theyll sign rfa Jannik Hansen and someone else and form a danish line ... that would be sweet (hopefully lemon flavored)

obviously Halak wanted the moon. I still think they could have got more than just Eller ... no Perron?

habs should have phoned the Canucks and inquired about bobby lou

Yeah that was him. He also tweeted in the regular season "Interesting stat of the night....Price is 10W, 32L in last 42 starts. Hmm." right at the end of a tough loss for the Habs, one which if I remember correctly wasnt a bad game by Price but one which he had no goal support.

very interesting.. i wonder if other teams were involved here, i cant imagine there were many if this is the best deal they could get.. very surprised halak is the one that got moved..

as much as i dislike price, i gotta say i feel bad for him.. they tag him as 'the next roy' and regardless of how badly he's outshined they continue to push him into the lineup

Oh, wait, they just did.

Sorry, but I think Price is very overrated and with the exception of the few stellar stretches he has crumbled under the Montreal hockey hot bed pressure with soft goals and poor goaltending.

I personally think Halak has always been better. But, it's a matter of opinion. Some people will agree with me and some will disagree. I hope I'm wrong and Price does well, but I won't be surprised if he disappoints. Prove me wrong Mr. Price. :)

The Blues won this deal. This could potentially get them into the postseason next year.

From what I read Halak was pricing himself out of their plans.
The team always liked the way Price handled himself when things were good or bad (besides a popular topic on boards like these, I never heard Price was having any trouble with the pressure)
The move will help resign Pleks, which was judged to be more important.
The offers for Halak were not as good as were expected.
Allen Walsh may have been a factor.

Press conference in a few minutes.
