I read somewhere that Madrigal - could sit 6 games and play the last 54 and save the Sox a season under control.

I have no idea how the math works in that, but if it's true, it's a huge advantage for the Sox.

Some notables:

-The pitcher/player count is 16/14, respectively.
-At first glance it looks like the Sox will only carry two catchers, but they have Collins listed as an infielder.
-No Madrigal
-No Mercedes
-Rodon is listed in the pen, but if he stays healthy and maintains his progress, it should just be a matter of time before he's in the rotation or at the very least an opener, especially as there is otherwise no long reliever on the roster.
